I agree but can't understand why most places that have in stock items are much cheaper than others. Midway is a good example of gouging customers.Honestly everything has gone up in price not just in the reloading world. Everything. Might just be the going rate these days for some items.
On a site like this, people don't buy factory rifles nearly as much as custom. Hell, it's pretty simple replacing a factory barrel. Chamber up a 25 Souper barrel and replace the barrel on a rifle you currently own. Just that easy. I'm waiting on my smith to finish a barrel for my 25-284. Shouldn't be long now. Your right, many have 10 twist barrels and bullet choice is limited. Easy fix tho.I think part of the issue with people not shooting the heavies, is that aside from just a few cartridges, rifle manufactures don't make them. Or make them with anything other than a 1:10 twist barrel.
Other than the new kid 25 Creedmoor, the most popular being 25-06, and 257 Weatherby, with a couple 257 Roberts thrown into the mix.
I would love to see a manufacturer build a rifle for 250 Souper and get it SAAMI approved.
Alas, this site is the exception, rather than the rule.On a site like this, people don't buy factory rifles nearly as much as custom. Hell, it's pretty simple replacing a factory barrel. I agree. It's not even a consideration. People are scared to think outside that box. I was that way at one time until I had my first barrel chambered and installed. I watched a gunsmith do much of the work and realized it's just like anything else, a job that requires a little talent but something anybody can do (the barrel install, not the chambering).Alas, this site is the exception, rather than the rule.
While i have no issue with rebarreling a rifle, i know at least 40 people with firearms that wouldn't think of going to a wildcat chambering because there's no readily available factory rifle at the store.
Heck, only 2 of those 40 reload, or own a torque wrench in inch pounds, or a scope level.
3 of them have had rifles that were so gunked up, the safety wouldn't operate. Beyond running a patch through it, and putting yet another heavy coat of oil on it.
Rifle was never taken apart & cleaned. Took me 3 days of cleaning on my neighbors Savage 99, to get it operational.![]()
Not me !! LOLPeople are scared to think outside that box.
I've had good life from mine. Broughton and bartlein barrels have served me well to around 1800+ rounds easily with sub moa beyond 1800. I run them around 2950-2975 with the 140 class bullets and life is pretty long. I hear that alot but I think many guys push them into the 3100 range and that drops the numbers alot. Either way, barrels are not real bad price wise and the trade off is worth it IMONot me !! LOL
It's interesting you mentioned doing a 25-284. I was on the
phone the other day talking to a guy about squeezing some
brass down for him. We talked barrel life and I recommended
contacting Bartlien about there newer barrel steel. I was thinking
the 6.5- 284 might make some sort of a come back with the new
steel. Hell of a cartridge but terrible round count.
Depending on what contour you prefer there are a few heavier ones available right now. When we are able to find the correct twist barrels and 131/135gr .257 bullet this side of the ocean I can see a nice 25SLR in my future

Can BJ export/ship overseas?Depending on what contour you prefer there are a few heavier ones available right now.
My mistake. I suppose if I would actually read thoroughly. I would say to give it a whirl. See what they say.. I know blackjack was trying to get some bullets over to Australian shooters a while back. Can BJ export/ship overseas?
