Powder Prices Are Shocking

Neither have been opened, I got them when my Grandpa gave me his reloading stuff a couple years ago.
Oh that brings back memories. I bought 28 one pounder from a large gun shop the closed down in Vancouver 50 years ago for $ 1.00 a can . It was all the H 4831 they had and I wasn’t old enough to understand that some of the other powders would also be valuable to me as I learned more LOL

Not that shocking. Its been that way for over a year now, where have you been??

Just comes down to American corporate greed, nothing more. Absolutely ludicrous what this country has come to since the whole "covid" scam. I can't wait to retire and move to Mexico where the US can suck it and gets no more of my hard earned money...
Just don't run for mayor of Mexico City. They seem to have a short tenure.

The harm that cooperate greed has done to our country is debatable, and probably responsible for most of the modern blessings that we enjoy. Do you think that we derive more benefit from greedy cooperations, or greedy politicians? I think it's a big problem when the two of them get together to REALLY milk the cow, so to speak.

When you get to Mexico, it will be interesting to see how you feel about "greedy cartels", and if they provide relief from the corporate greed we suffer with here.

My next door neighbors are from Mexico, and go there to spend a couple months every winter. They always return to the US, even though he owns land down there, and none here. jd

Mexico is a shithole country on the same level as South Africa. The entire country is run by the drug cartels.

Anybody even thinking of moving there needs a serious dose of reality.

If it's so bad here for you, then why wait? Just leave now.

Lol, I love all you patriots and your leave now why wait BS. But, you know America doesnt make it easy for the average guy to just pick up and move out of the country. If I could, I would! Mexico isn't really that bad. If it was that bad, then why do so many people vacation and retire down there huh? Mind your business and the cartel leaves you alone. Mind your business in America and your taxed to death, and have a ton of BS laws and agendas shoved down your throat. And anyone who thinks America is still the greatest country on earth, might also need a serious reality check...You dont ever truly own anything here. The government taxes and can take whatever, whenever they want from you. The most corrupt government on earth, by far. If you want to fund my move and board, I'd gladly go now haha. Like I said, I can not wait to get out of this shit hole country. Counting the days...

If I was ever to move out of the USA I’k look at Panama, Costa Rica, Belize, Portugal right off the bat. However, that will never happen, we have our problems here but every time I travel abroad I’m always grateful when I return back to this place of freedom, I could never do what I do here anywhere else and that’s a fact. If It’s not for you that’s fine, if it is for you I hope you do your level best to keep what we have, there certainly is an onslaught of those trying to destroy what we have.

The same issues you have no preventing you from leaving today are exactly the same you'll face when you retire.

"Leave the cartels alone and the cartels will leave you alone"

Tell that to the tens of thousands of innocents, including the schoolchildren murdered on their bus, or the most recent, American surfers murdered there.

"But, you know America doesnt make it easy for the average guy to just pick up and move out of the country."

I'd like to know just how "America" doesn't make it easy to just pick up and move out of the country. And I'd wager that most folks who do, will retain their American citizenship. -- and their American Social Security income -- and their American disability benefits -- and any other perks that they either earned or were given while living in the USA. jd

I'm gonna bitch and moan with everybody else about the cost of powder and the cost and availability of primers, but I try to keep a little perspective -- It's a hobby. I've never spent a huge percentage of my income on my hobbies, an still don't. Neither did my father, and I'm sure my grandparents spent even less.

Food, shelter, and clothing, and saving for your non-working future is where the great majority of your take home pay should go; and if it doesn't, you're just bein dumb. And if you cut out about 10% and give it to the Lord, you'll find that things just seem to work out better for ya as you go. jd

In the early 1900's a $20 gold coin weighed .96oz. Let's just say 1 ounce. It had a value of $20. That same 1 ounce of gold today is over $2000. The gold is the same, what has changed is it will cost you an extra $1980+. The real problem is the utter devaluation of the US dollar.

Because the average person here can barely afford to live, put food on the table, gas to get to work, buy a house, that's why. Let alone have the extra $10K+ to just up and move out of the country. Hard work doesn't get you very far these days in America. Citizens are just dollar signs to our government, like dangling a carrot in front of your face. Get up every day to slave for companies that dont pay a living wage, to tax us to death, send our money overseas, take care of illegals who don't belong here. Anyone who was not set up financially 5-10 years ago, will have a very hard time having the extra income with all this BS inflation and taxes to just up and move out of the country. I could go on and on why they make it almost impossible for the middle class citizen to move out of the country. Not everyone was fed a silver spoon up there growing up, nor is old enough to have that nest egg built up back when it was 20x easier to do so. If you're not smart enough to see or realize that these days, than I don't know what to tell you.

Once I find myself complaining about the cost of a sport, it’s no longer a sport.
Years ago I did this with sailboats. Eventually the cost was too much. ( check what’s needed to be somewhat competitive in the North Atlantic!)
Should I shoot less? Should I look to move into rimfires?
Whatever I do it will be for my enjoyment, if I find this sport cost prohibitive. That’s when it’s no longer a sport.
Some of the shooters in Kali aka Humboldt County are switching to PCP air rifles

Well at least we can still buy powder and components, albeit at much higher prices. I've lived offshore, seen about half the world, and am always glad to return to the USA.

From my view, about half the countries in the world quality as "shit holes". We still have the 2A, can shoot when we want at any legit target. Not so in almost every country I've visited, so to those who disdain the USA, you know where the door is, and know that the grass is NOT always greener over there. Trust me, been there, seen it myself.

Yea, if it is so bad here one should just leave. Instead some want to degrade the whole country just because some idiots have been put in control by other idiots. That don't mean our country as a whole is all bad.

When the war in Ukraine started, I stocked up on powder and primers. I think I'm good for a couple years and hoping the wars calm down. But I see in the news today, it doesn't look good between Hezbollah, Hamas and Israel. Next thing you know, there'll be a serious problem between Taiwan and China. Powder and primer prices will probably remain high for a while. :(
It is going to get worse!!! Our government is allowing the Whole African Continent to fall into rogue anti-American hands!!! This will fuel the War Machine growth and wreak the World economy!!! Stock up now, bite the bullet, and be thankful later when prices double!!! This is how the government is attacking the 2nd Amendment!!! BANKRUPTCY OF THE GUN OWNER!!!

The last time I bought powder and the last time that I will buy powder, I spent $320 shipped for an 8 pound jug of H 4350 and I almost puked paying that much. Most of my powder I have on hand is in the $25 a pound range. After I am done with what I have, I am done. I should have enough to get me into my mid 80s if I am fortunate enough to live that long and still competing. I am now 63. Thank goodness for foresight that I learned from William Jefferson Clinton…..Never get caught with your pants down or your powder pantry plummeting.

Me too. And I have been in true shit holes.
I don’t ‘distain’ the USA. I distain what ‘they’ have turned it into.
When I returned from VietNam this country was not the one I left. And it has been a downhill slide ever since.
I’ll never forget how I was treated by fellow Americans. And they why I wonder why I have a shit attitude! Especially the VFW that refused VietNam vets to join. Can’t believe they are still around. There’s a few people that I can’t believe are still around also.
My goal is to outlive them. So far I think I’m ahead of quite a few.

Same here. Last time I inventoried my powder stash, I had just over 130 lbs, almost all bought at or under $25/lb. Now that I'm into "Geezerhood" at 77, it should last me until I'm pushin' up daisies. Buying it now at these totally rediculously high prices makes me cringe and glad "I'm done" (buying it, that is).
