Evidently Bryan's creation is made out of WSM rather than SAUM brass. Exectly how much difference there is between his creation and the one that Alex and Tom started, I do not know.. I can bet that the performance between the two will be within a hair's breadth..
300 saum brass not WSM from my understandingEvidently Bryan's creation is made out of WSM rather than SAUM brass. I believe (not positive) a .300SAUM Improved and a "Shortened" .300WSM Improved. Do not worry about making an "Improved / Proprietary" cartridge for F-Open. The .300WSM is accurate enough to win at L/R Benchrest matches. F-Open needs extreme accuracy, BUT does it need to get down to the "inth" degree to set national records? In my opinion, if you like to "create" something new that may out-perform an already awesome cartridge, go for it. I love tinkering>>>BUT I have done quite enough of that, at least for the foreseeable future. Nothing wrong with doing that, I rather like that myself>>>>but for F-Open, the WSM is all you could hope for with no "fiddlin'" around..what two cartridges are we looking at here?

Since I have become a devotee of "BIG", I really do not have an idea worth the time, effort and $$$s that would or could make a big enough difference against the .300WSM to justify the expense.. Quite frankly, I am so satisfied with the WSM, that my thoughts are failing for contrivance! LOL!!!We know you are dreaming of that new wildcat at bedtime Ben!![]()
Wsm on the left I assume?Pretty sure its a straight WSM vs the 40 degree 30 cal saum. Tom sent me that pic a while ago.

I'm anxious to see if it's the cat's meow .
Especially with the talk of higher velocities, over the 300 wsm.

Well, Joe what intrigues me they say there running 2950 Plus with 200 grain class bullets, if the accuracy node was there, after 10 rounds down range in about 50 seconds my bolt will be hard to open up.Stan to me it sounds like we are going back to the 70's when I first started, where everyone was on the speed kick. The way I see it, Get the damn bullet stabilized! If you push them to fast your not going to like what you get.
Joe Salt
You can easily push them up there with RL-16 and T-Rust me, it shoots! No doubt I could probable push them 200's up to abut 3000 using a compressed load of RL-23 but will it shoot?
