300 SAUM Imp

Sharing some fire forming data. Cases formed very good, no pressure. 57gr H4350, CCI 200 primer, Sierra 220 gr HPBT jammed, .002" neck tension. 3.3" 25 shot group at 550yd with one minute between shots to keep barrel cool. These were shots 20-45 on the Krieger barrel, it did speed up a bit. 2-7 mph head wind.

How long of barrel?

Are you all mostly shooting the 215's in these things or has anyone played around with the little brother version 200.20X? They seem to be easier to get than the 215's at the moment.

Once we had everything we needed I mostly shot 204(ish) bullets out of my die, made by grandma Roy. They did well, but I ran out if jackets before I could fine tune all aspects of the load.

Glenn got onto the juggernauts, and they did well. And plowed through conditions better than the ballistic calculator would predict.

Now I have gotten a hold of some 1.500 jackets to mess with a bigger brother made on my die. This is about as light as I'd try on this experiment.

Will be getting to know more after hunting season, if we don't get snowed out of the "range"

Got 25 pcs ready this evening for forming &
a little barrel clean up. Hoping to get out to the range in a day or two..
Figured since this is a hunting rifle, I’d allow 4.5K neck clearance for clean/unfired brass.
My goal is to get it roughed In soon so I can see how the juggernauts work on deer sized game, before NC’s rifle season ends.
The barrel is a Lilja 3 groove 1:10, finished at 24”, that Alex spun up for my Bat HR.
I’ll be fire forming with H4350 to get some decent carbon in the necks first and then compare it with RL16 when shooting groups.

I have got this reamer and die combo tweaked to work very well.
I posted in the wrong thread, I was going back and forth reading your 300saum thread and Rhovees 300wsm testing and was wondering if I switched to the ADG brass from WW in my 6.5x300wsm if I would have a clicker problem.
My 6.5x300wsm is just a saami 300wsm necked down to 6.5

Kind of a different animal and don’t mean to sidetrack, but I haven’t had any clicker problems in my 338-375R using ADG 300 PRC brass. I believe the chamber base dimensions on the 300 PRC and 375 Ruger are the same being that the 375R is the parent of the PRC.

Will be testing 300 Norma brass from ADG as well this winter and after measuring virgin ADG against virgin Lapua cases, I don’t expect any issues there either.

Made it out to the range this evening to form the 25 cases that were prepped a few nights
ago.

Target was set at 200yds to expose the differences between each primer type used.
Other than that, all other components, powder charges, & seating depths were identical.

I cleaned between each shot, for the first 10 (1 sighter & 3-3shot groups). Then cleaned between each 5 shot group.

The rifle seemed to prefer the BR2’s, followed by 250’s. It was not happy with the 210M’s.

Considering this is a random powder charge, seating depth, and new barrel.. I’d say this cartridge is pretty amazing so far.

Is this cartridge any different than the Sherman Max?

And what kind of barrel life are you guys seeing that are shooting h4350?
