300 SAUM loads for 1000 yard benchrest needed.

I picked up a 1.450 Krieger with 1-11 twist with a Vias muzzle brake in a 300 SAUM recently. It had FL bushing dies from Redding and Wilson seater. It is still in great shape, looks like 2-300 rounds down the tube to me. You see loads for the 300 WSM everywhere here on Accurate Shooter, but hardly any for the SAUM. I will be shooting bullets in the 200-210g range for 1000 yard benchrest only. It will go on my 50 pound HG with a BAT L action, no barrel block. I mainly need to know the best powder. I know a lot of shooters shoot H4350 in the WSM. But I would like to hear from someone with actual hards on experience. Thank you, Samuel Hall

I have shot the 300 SAUM for years in F-Class using the Matrix and Berger 210 VLD's using H4350 and BR2's. Try 58.0 H4350 and jamming .010". Got me into the F-Class World's in 2013!
I had the throat lengthened to seat the bullets out.
All the usual caveats for loading .

Steve, that is some info. like I was looking for. What kind of velocity were you getting with your SAUM with the 210's? And is 58.0 a starting load or a match load? Samuel

I used to tune the rifle to 2780 fps. I would vary the load up and down a little to reach the velocity. In reality though, the load really never changed in 6 barrels. This was a match load but in the low pressure node for the bullet. I found it to be consistent in all temperature ranges. We shoot here in winter and summer and temps range from -24 (which is rough to shoot in) to over 100 degree. I never changed the load. However, I did notice that the ES were worse in the cold than in the heat and the loads seemed to get better in the higher temps.

Steve, just wondering why you went with the 300 SAUM when all the masses have gone with the WSM? Samuel

When I built the first one I already owned a hunting rifle in the caliber, dies, brass and my gunsmith had a match reamer and made 30 cal barrels himself. I didn't do any magical analysis about the cartridge. In addition I liked the way the Saum looked over the Wsm.
It was just a convenient thing the way it all came together and when it worked out so well I stayed with it.
