Where to move?

US has most fucked up immigration policy, at least top five worst in world. Years ago, we had policy where Mexicans were allowed in for several months at a time to do seasonal work. Nowadays, 90% of the construction work is done by Hispanics. Most US workers don't know how to do construction and and the other half don't want to do construction. Cluster fuck. I live in Texas so I am basing my statement on what I see. Other states may be different.

Beautiful. Postcard material.

I see something a bit different here in NY. Virtually every job has been taken over by persons who only speak Spanish. At one time it was noticed that most of the (presumed) immigrants only worked in landscaping jobs or as domestics in hotels. Today, its every mason, irrigation worker, roofer, contractor, landscaper, pool installer, siding contractor, and on & on. Jobs have been scooped up from beneath everyone who needed a non-technical job. Even the union guys are getting pushed out by guys who will work for low wages, unlimited hours w/o overtime and no benefits. It's impossible to compete with any of that. Contractors and other businesses who didn't give in to this nonsense eventually were underbid in every aspect of the job. They either gave in to hiring all immigrants or they went under. What a terrible down spiral for the American workforce.

You are no help. A frequent car/truck decal here shows a map of Idaho with bold letters saying No Vacancy.
Change is going to happen....how rapid it is happening scares people and thats why they object.

Yeah, I agree 100%. In texas it has not reached that level at all and I hope it never does. Our workforce first got screwed when we sent great jobs to china in exchange for a 90 dollar VCR.

I think I have read most of this post. Your best option is Maine..... Down east Maine East of Ellsworth, coastal the from Mt Desert Island to Cutler and don't look back. Maine votes liberal because of Portland and southern Maine but the rest are very great people.

Can anyone vouch for/against Nebraska...particularly Omaha and the surrounding areas? Have an opportunity that could take us there and tryingnto decide if it is for the best or not. Have kiddos ranging from mid high school to early grade school so trying to figure if it will be conducive for our family. It seems like a more conservative space then what we have to deal with in the pacific NW, but really want to be sure we gather all info we can about the space. Curious if anyone can weigh in before we make a trip to check it out.

Omaha is in Douglas County, one of only two counties Biden won (with 54.4%) in NE in 2020 . (Lancaster County fell to Biden w/ 52.3%.) But Omaha will certainly be far less leftist than Seattle anywhere near Portland. Edit: You live in Wasco County, which Trump barely won. Do you commute to Portlandia?

Salt Lake city Utah. But I live in Wyoming..
Utah does have a lot to offer.
I find a lot of similarities between Boise, Salt Lake, Fort Collins Co, Anchorage, Reno, Sacramento, and a few others. I’d probably like Texas, but I’ve never spent much time there - same with Arizona.
