Where to move?

You are no help. A frequent car/truck decal here shows a map of Idaho with bold letters saying No Vacancy.
Change is going to happen....how rapid it is happening scares people and thats why they object.

I see something a bit different here in NY. Virtually every job has been taken over by persons who only speak Spanish. At one time it was noticed that most of the (presumed) immigrants only worked in landscaping jobs or as domestics in hotels. Today, its every mason, irrigation worker, roofer, contractor, landscaper, pool installer, siding contractor, and on & on. Jobs have been scooped up from beneath everyone who needed a non-technical job. Even the union guys are getting pushed out by guys who will work for low wages, unlimited hours w/o overtime and no benefits. It's impossible to compete with any of that. Contractors and other businesses who didn't give in to this nonsemse eventually were underbid in every aspect of the job. They either gave in to hiring all immigrants or they went under. What a terrible downspiral for the American workforce.
Yeah, I agree 100%. In texas it has not reached that level at all and I hope it never does. Our workforce first got screwed when we sent great jobs to china in exchange for a 90 dollar VCR.

I think I have read most of this post. Your best option is Maine..... Down east Maine East of Ellsworth, coastal the from Mt Desert Island to Cutler and don't look back. Maine votes liberal because of Portland and southern Maine but the rest are very great people.

Can anyone vouch for/against Nebraska...particularly Omaha and the surrounding areas? Have an opportunity that could take us there and tryingnto decide if it is for the best or not. Have kiddos ranging from mid high school to early grade school so trying to figure if it will be conducive for our family. It seems like a more conservative space then what we have to deal with in the pacific NW, but really want to be sure we gather all info we can about the space. Curious if anyone can weigh in before we make a trip to check it out.

Omaha is in Douglas County, one of only two counties Biden won (with 54.4%) in NE in 2020 . (Lancaster County fell to Biden w/ 52.3%.) But Omaha will certainly be far less leftist than Seattle anywhere near Portland. Edit: You live in Wasco County, which Trump barely won. Do you commute to Portlandia?

Salt Lake city Utah. But I live in Wyoming..
Utah does have a lot to offer.
I find a lot of similarities between Boise, Salt Lake, Fort Collins Co, Anchorage, Reno, Sacramento, and a few others. I’d probably like Texas, but I’ve never spent much time there - same with Arizona.

I'm a transplanted New Yorker living down in Houston. Been here since 1976, I could live anywhere I want but I love Texas and the gulf coast. For me the weather is ideal, we're located across the gulf from Orlando. Until I got into my mid-fifties the heaviest jacket I had was a windbreaker. In 38 years I've seen the "white rain" only four times and it only stuck to the ground overnight twice. Melts the next day.

If your church matters, this is a great place. Stafford (next town) made national news because they put a moratorium on new churches. Since they have no property taxes too many churches were moving to the area. Another thing to love about this area is that it's the fastest growing county in the US right now and Texas has no state income taxes.

I live in a suburb of Houston (Missouri City) and a NRA 1,000 yard range is 15 minutes away from my house, some guys drive two hours to get here. Membership is $140 year, I can literally shoot any and every day, but if it drizzles a bit I wimp out and wait an hour or so.

As we get older access to doctors is important and Houston has a Medical Center second to none and it's only a 35 minute ride to it. Another nice thing Houston has two large airports and getting places with a direct flight is easy.

Another thing you're going to love, for half of the money that you get from selling your house you'll be able to buy one that is twice as big here. The only downside, no basements and it's flat. Big sky is what I call it. Love to see the horizon and sunsets. Miss it when I'm away.

I volunteer at the food pantry one/two days a week and another guy there is retired NYC PD from Queens and he likes it here too. His daughter also lives here. The joke around here is that Yankees are like Hemorhoids, once they come down they never go back up.

Good luck in your search.
We natives call y'all "damn" Yankees. Yankees go home, "damn "Yankees stay! By the way, welcome to Texas!!

Omaha isn’t Nebraska. Like Jackson/Laramie/Cheyenne isn’t Wyoming.

Perspective is everything.
