Where to move?

Yep, and investors are buying 1/3 of the houses in N. Texas. These aren't small guys with some extra money. They are big multi million dollar outfits buying houses and squeezing homebuyers out of the market. I am a free market guy, but it is irritating to watch it happen. flip side is our house values age going straight up.
I have read and heard about that. “Investors” are buying properties and turning them into rentals. Some major players are dumping billions into the idea.
It’s not a new idea but it gained traction during COVID. My opinion? It’s going to end in the next big real estate collapse!

They’re in the Houston area too. I got some low ball offers from a couple… told them to take a long walk!

Look before you leap. Moved around the country as a military brat. Been many places. If you like seasons but not too cold, the north Gulf, if you want hot and more hot south FL. No where in the south is cool in the summer. So do your home work and actually go look. Kids, schools, wife, social, etc. Conservitive, high education and income levels per capita are in the North Gulf areas. Not metro areas.

Sounds to me like the conservative minded people will be forced to walk onto a piece of property and it will end up being their Tribal Land.

I live. in Northern Nevada. We have 4 distinct seasons, but still enjoy over 300 days of Sun per year. We do get snow but it generally melts very quickly. Its comprised of high desert with lots of mountain ranges to split it all up. No problem to take short pickup ride out in the sage and set up a 1000 plus yard informal range....shoot for an afternoon..clean up and go home.

One of our local ranges ... http://palominogunclub.org

We have no state income tax and lots of nice small quiet small communities.

The biggest con is all of the California folks moving here to escape. Some just don't get it and want to get us to change to the place they just left.

Good luck on you search!
+1 on Nevada

I don’t know why we don’t just peacefully divide it up now before it gets ugly. Lots of people are migrating into unfamiliar cultures and they never assimilate. In the end the liberal commies win because they have the numbers.

As far as the reservation reference above, I’d take that deal. But I’m putting in a casino. Could you imagine a new sovereign nation that is for true conservatives. Not California definition of conservative.

My choice is Czech republic.
Pros:
Great life balance attitude embedded in Czech DNA.
Beautiful girls.
Best beer, not only lager(pilsner)
Mild climate
Gun culture
CZ
Skoda

Cons:
No access to sea. Not really big problem- not far away from Italy.

TN is beautiful and I wish that I was still there with my daughters. But now I am in Florida and it aint so bad.

Great pros list.

I don’t care about the ocean.

Got me thinking for sure. For when the California pukes take over the USA and there’s nowhere to hide.

What’s involved in uprooting from here and being a Czech?

Just remember in some states the people talk funny, they call it an accent
so after you make the call start practicing to talk like them so they won’t call you a outsider and make fun of how you talk

Laramie Wyoming, somewhat cold with some snow but most snow stays in the mountains. Has world class trout fishing in the upper north Platte River which has a stretch of river called the Miracle Mile which has more trout per mile than any other location so it is said. Very strong fly fishing culture in this area. Housing costs are reasonable in the smaller towns outside of the tourist traps. No state income tax. Similar Socio-Economic situation in southern South Dakota on its Nebraska border, you will have some snow but nothing like New York State. Both states are conservative meaning the people are most rational. There exists a strong shooting and hunting culture in both states, one can carry concealed in state with no license or get a license for 32 other states. I am retired LEO as well, I moved here 12 years ago,( South Dakota), best move I have ever made. I also lived In New City N.Y. for about 10 years. Most of the time much drier and moderate snow if any than N.Y. in my location. Trout fishing good in the Black hills, Varmint hunting great anywhere! Much less government regulation here than what you are used to. you will be a free American if you move almost anywhere in the west..........

My great grandmother and grandfather were born there.
