What Is Your Every Day Carry Handgun?

Ruger LCR in 327 Federal Magnum, with a green CT laser. It has a six-shot capacity of course. I also have a S&W stubby in my truck. If you haven’t tried one, the Ruger LCR have a real smooth 9 lb trigger, much easier to shoot accurately than the 12 lb factory trigger on The S&W J frames.

"Carry" is the key word. As stated before, clothing is another key. Here in South Florida shorts and a T shirt are daily clothing. If riding bicycle or working on the property I always - ALWAYS have a NO Arms 5 shot 22 mag revolver in a back pocket. First shot is snake shot.

Wearing regular clothing, even to church, I carry a Ruger LCP in 380. It fits in a back pocket. You can sit on it, wear shirts tucked in and still do things without notice. Any kind of holstered gun, inside or outside a belt, is way too visible for me. I always carry.

Since my bladder removal I can't stand anything extra around my waist so I put my little colt 25 auto in my back pocket, no hammer to snag anything. 6 rounds of "hard ball" ammo may not kill you but it certainly will make you think the next time you pick out an old man.

In my vehicle, I have a 2 1/2 inch barrel Smith & Wesson Model 19, but with 38+P in it. I do adhere to the State Law in this practice.

My wife carry’s a Glock 43. She has a Concealed Carry Permit.

As a side note, even though Texas now has what we call Constitutional Carry, I am yet to see anybody outside of a Law Enforcement entity openly carrying a weapon in a public setting.
I'm not in Texas (Idaho) but I carry my 500jrh on my hip around town all the time. If I'm going to get snacks or gas for a wheeler ride or to go shoot it's on my hip. Nobody gives me a second thought. This is how it should be.

Generally a S&W Equalizer 9mm, either in a holster hiding under my shirt or inside my vest depending on the temperature. Sometimes an RIA BBR3.10 in 45ACP or when it's ready a new Chiappa Rhino 3" in .357mag.

It’s evolved over the years. Carried a model 70 Colt commander for years, went to a G19 for more capacity, currently carrying an sig 365 macro Xl which is a very small pistol for 15 round mags. When I’m hiking I usually have a Glock 40 10mm in a chest rig, much more comfortable than any belt rig I’ve worn. Just depends on the situation, what state I’m in and what I’m doing.

My EDC is a 45 Shield. I have a 9mm shield also (among many other offerings), but I shoot the 45 better (ie extremely well).

A note to anyone who carries a short barreled 45acp. While I've always been a big fan of the 45, I've also always been worried that they wouldn't expand well when fired from shorter barrels. I did NOT want the 45 shield for this reason, and because I figured the recoil would SUCK like it does with the Springfield XDS (turns out the recoil from the 45 shield is VERY manageable). When my wife bought the 45 shield for my birthday (I love that woman), I did a LOT of ballistic testing with it and only found 2 things that expanded consistently when fired through 4 layers of denim into ballistics gel. One is the Hdy Critical Defense, but the problem with it was that the expanded diameter was not very big (under 5/8" IIRC). Their 9mm offering actually gives better performanc than that. The other was ANYTHING that fired the 185gr Barnes TAC-XP projectile. At the time, that include offerings from Barnes, Corbon, and Buffalo Bore. Each set of test consisted of 5 rounds fired into bare gell, and 5 rounds fired into gel covered with 4 layers of denim. Expansion for the Barnes projectile was 100% for all 40 rounds that I fired. Expansion ranged between 3/4" to 7/8" (ie .750" - .875") and penetration was always in the 12" to 18" range. I tested every make and model of premium defensive ammunition I could get my hands on in both 185gr and 230gr offerings including Corebon JHP, Ranger SXT, Federal HST, Federal Hydra Shok (sucked BAD), Speer Gold Dot, and Remington Goldensaber, and several others. Any time MV dropped below 1000 fps, most projectiles struggled significantly to expand. The 185gr +P Goldensabers gave some extremely impressive MV, and for a design that's over 25 years old, it did pretty well but still had 2 rounds that plugged with denim and penciled extremely deep into the gel.

I don't carry at work because its forbidden.
