Texas State LR Championship (Houston, TX)

Down South

FTR Junkie
April 15-17th......15th is team match day......Should be a great match as usual, who's in?

Just looked at the forecast for the weekend, it's showing 20-30 mph winds, this is gonna be interesting........;):D

Just checked again (Pearland, TX.) mine is showing 20-30 mph (it might change 100 times before then) ESE wind with 60% rain as well. If its ESE thats a quartering tail wind there. Last time i shot there the forecast was ESE 15-25 mph and it was fishtailing from behind all day, fun fun fun!......:D

95% of the time its either quartering head or tail wind at Bayou :)

Sometimes Mother Nature just likes to make sure you feel like you really earned the win....Would love to be there in person to see how this one plays out. A lot of talented shooters are in that neck of the woods and I have to believe its gonna be a great show. Good luck all. Drew

It's sorta like the U.S. Open with 10" - 12" rough. The pros always complain bitterly about it, but it's the same for everyone. If they don't like hitting their second shot out of that rough, my thought has always been not to hit it in there in the first place ;).

Go get 'em, Jade!

If we get our "usual" fishtailing winds, that are quartering from our backs (which is indicative of this time of year) coupled with winds at or above 15M.P.H., needless to say, there will be NO national records set! If the current weather reports stay the course, scores will suffer! But I would rather have those conditions than a "no wind" "just aim and shoot" condition! I like to test my mettle against some very challenging conditions>>>more interesting by far!

Ah yes, the perennial battle of competing weather forecasts. Doesn't really matter now as they are always off base more than 2 days ahead. Let's see what they say on Thursday for the Friday team matches.

Didn't it flood out pretty good last year? I recall seeing some drone video if my memory serves me correctly.

There was statewide flooding last year. It was R-E-A-L-L-Y humid, to the point of being miserable.. But we made it and it was a good match. BUT the winds for the TSRA last year were DEAD-CALM compared to what is being forecast for this weekend.. But as "Bayou Shooter" said>>that remains to be seen..

This will be my first 1,000 yard match. I've been shooting the 300 and 600 yard matches since last June. I am going into this match as unclassified so it should be a leaning experience for me.
