Texas LR State Championship (April 28-30)

I want to thank everyone who was involved in the match and to the folks that gave up some tips on shooting in the wind,me and my little 223 tried as hard as we could lol!!.To the folks that may read this and have not shot at Bayou Rifles it is a nice place with great people and a well ran match.

The match was put on by Bayou Rifles, Inc and its members, all volunteers. We had several work parties to get the range and its equipment ready to receive such a large gathering of shooters and it did work out very well. The threatened rain held off but the wind more than made up for it. The winds were different all three days and the totally switched from Saturday to Sunday.

Here are the links to the official scores:

Extremely well run match, from the line commands to the target pullers. Much appreciated!

Jeff

Also, super fast score postings and daily colors ceremony!

In F-Open, if you look at the top scorers, Erik Cortina, Mark Walker, John Myers, you will notice something. We had some of the most severe wind conditions any shooters anywhere could compete in. But these guys, tough conditions or not, are able to shoot good scores and CONSISTENTLY stay at the top of the heap! I have shot with each of these guys since I started in F-Class. I was amazed at their ability when I did not know what I was talking about and a "tin-horn"! As Rush would say, that's being a newbie for all of you in Rio Linda (or however it may be spelled)! LOL!! What amazes me even more, is now that I have several years under my belt, is watching these guys put on a performance in conditions that traumatized the scores of everyone else! They truly are at the pinnacle of F-Class shooting>>>>PERIOD!

The match was run by Bayou Personnel with Ben Brooks at the helm and Ron and Linda Mae Dyer doing the set-up and logistics / stats. Then a host of others, who on their own time, put forth a great effort to put on a great match. It is very tough to best the matches in Texas and nigh on to impossible to beat the best shooters there!

Oh, something I forgot to mention, Erik Cortina won! BUT that's not the news. The news is, is he is on his THIRD STRAIGHT TSRA L/R WIN IN A ROW! Now that is some kind of consistently excellent shooting!

Ben, it was great to hear your stentorious voice calling out scores again. You took off too quickly and I never had a chance to visit much with you. That was my loss. Hope to see you again soon.

For those who are interested in numbers, we had 83 shooters for individuals on Saturday morning.

Also, FYI; we had to skip the Lapua Regional match this year due to work pressures (volunteers are so fickle,) but I understand it is being planned for 2018. Updates as they become available.

Thanks Denys.. I was trying desperately to find everyone to say "Good Bye>>>Til Next Year"! However, I missed you, Don and Johnny Ingram! I had to leave before the flood of shooters descended on the score area and completely block me in.. I look forward to seeing everyone next year>>I will make it a point to visit with you for awhile..

I probably learned more about the wind in the last two weekends there then the previous year. Very humbling but educational :(
