Texas LR State Championship (April 28-30)

Looks like another great TX match is in the works. My bucket list just keeps growing.....
Have fun, everyone.....I know you will.
Drew

Looking forward to the match and to see everyone! 1000 yard matches at Bayou are always challenging but it looks like this one will be something extra if the forecast holds.

We had a 600 yard match yesterday (club championship) where the starting winds were around 10 mph, increasing to probably 15-16 mph from the NNW, switching back and forth to NNE. It was a very humbling experience, almost everyone were taken to school. However there were some notable exceptions, such as the cool-as-a-cucumber Ray Weaver who produced like there was no wind at all and of course 'I-laugh-at-the-wind', Johnny Ingram :) Congratulations to both of them as the mid-range club champions in F/TR and F-Open respectively.

20 mph fishtailing winds at 1000... strap in and hold on, it's going to be a bumpy ride :D

Looking like a front may pass through Sat night into Sunday morning. Winds changing from Southeast at 15-25 to Northeast at 15-25 by mid morning Sunday. Are they likely to call the match Sunday morning or wait it out a little while if it looks like it may pass through by 9-10?

In the past, officials have waited out the rain.

I just printed the stickers for the rifle weight certification. Remember, 8.25 kilos (18.18lbs) for F-TR including bipod and mirage shields, etc; 10 kilos (22lbs) for F-Open including mirage shields, etc and 3 inches width on the fore-end of the stock. (We will have hacksaws, axes, knives and drills if adjustments are needed.)

What scale will be used this time? That fish weight scale used at one of the matches last year was not too friendly to me vs the other scale used prior... Or perhaps my rifle has just accumulated a few oz's of crud over the years...

Worried about weight? Shoot sling and irons. I'll be over on "that" end with a few others.

Never discount an industrial belt sander as a viable option to meet the weight requirement ;).

That time of year again next weekend at Bayou Club south of Houston TX. Team match Friday, individuals Saturday and Sunday. Match is almost full according to the email I read yesterday, if you wanna get in do it soon! Extended weather forecast is showing 20-30 mph winds Friday & Saturday, if that holds up it's gonna be fun!......:D......Looking forward to seeing everyone again and hoping to meet some new shooters as well, expecting to see a well run very competitive match!........;):)

We work with the weather outlets to show extreme forecasts like this so we don't continue to have the reputation of only shooting cupcake conditions. :P

When you show up it will be 2-3 mph steady cross wind with overcast and just a little mirage just to see the wind speed change from 2.5 to 2.7 mph. And for goodness sakes just stop shooting when its gusting at 3 mph! Ha! ...Dreaming :-)

Perhaps we need to order a pallet of bricks to keep the targets from bobbing around. And a basket of clamps to keep the targets in the target frames..?!

Probably just crud build up........:D

Probably so, I will take it out back with the power washer and give it a good cleaning. That should clean the crud right off and perhaps it will even strip a plastic panel or two off the chassis which will at least push me in the right direction...

Same conditions as last year!

For those that are interested and able (the old retired guys), squadded practice will take place tomorrow (Thursday). Get there around 11:30 so we can start firing at 12:15. Cost $5.
