I think it was always the opposite. We knew the 6 PPC was King at short range, and wondered if the 6 Dasher and 300 WSM could compete at 300.So much for the short range guys not being able to keep up with the big guns

Not really. Those winners dont even own a gun thatll shoot 500 but the 1000yd guns shoot at 300. Its all about the tune.I would think 300 yards would still be considered short range. To make a good mix of it take it to 400-500 yards and you’ll see a different field in the top spots.
I’d definitely consider making the trip if it was stretched out a bit further. 500 yards would be a good intermediate range for both the short range guys and the long range guys. Just my opinion.
