Back on topic. Does this die actually say 9mm on it? I bought a set of Lee 7x57 dies many years back. The label and seating die were correct, however there was a 220 Swift sizing die mistakenly packed. That would have really raised hell with a 7x57 case!
Yes, but I found the problem. The dies are not polished... WTF??? I got the new ones, was all excited, put them in, and same thing.
Just so happens, today a friend brought over a truck bed full ( I am not even joking, my garage looks like I am stockpiling ammunition for the appocalypse) of reloading equipment! maybe 50k primers, 100 lbs of lead, 1000`s of empty cases of 40, 44 Magnum, 45, 9mm so much crap I dont know what to do... AND PRESSES with DIES!
So upon failure of the second set, I dug through the stuff he brought me, found a set of Lee 380 Dies, what luck! Set up his single stage press, and ran a case through the 380. Guess what? Sized JUST FINE! What? Yeah, so I set up the 9mm on it, thinking, ok maybe the guy in an earlier post was right about my press being jacked up. NOPE! still ruined the case.
Inspected the inside of the 380, and the inside of the 9mm, and wow what a difference. the 380 is mirror finish, mine is "mat" finish. They did not polish the 9mm carbide, ON BOTH!
Time to contact Lee. And unfortunatly, he did not have a 9mm die set.
You all may be interested in the presses he got. He claims they are ancient old, and worth thousands. No idea, but one has like 5 or 6 stations. I will post pictures of the presses in the morrow.
