You might want to replace your priming system with the Lee replacement one. They made a design change and it really improved my priming issues. Give them a call.

will check out the system, they might just give one,I sell their stuff,,and also absolutely no lube or other product should with their carbide pistol dies,,I do around 2-3000 rounds a month and
have never put anything but brass in them,,

Yup , I also use Lee dies in pistol and have loaded thousands of 9mm with out a single failure.... That's not normal at all.... Contact Lee and send the dies and a few of the resized brass that are ruined back to them... They will send you out a new set or fix those... I would go ahead and buy the 4 die set from Lee with the factory crimp die and I guess save those you have now after there fixed for spares... You as stated above , don't need to lube the brass with carbide pistol dies..

I know you say lube never hurt anything but in reloading it does. Lube changes every dimension it gets on. It collapses shoulders and too much on the body sizes it too much. If you need a little more sizing somewhere all you need to do is lube it a little more.

Thanks for all the replies! Amazon sent out another set yesterday, and they will be here tomorrow. If that fixes the issue I will report back. My local reloading shop says he thinks its definitely an out of spec die, and he has seen it before, with ALL the brands (some less than others, cough RCBS...). He did say if it happens again with the new set, not to bother with Amazon, and to go direct to Lee, so if this doesnt work, thats what I will be doing.

OP,
Lee products are a fine example of 1960's vintage screw machine products.
You've paid 21st century prices for 1960's technology.

Throw the JUNK in a dumpster & move on to quality products!

Possibly a crimp die was placed in the 3 die set instead of a sizing die?

No, it is indeed a sizing die. Like I said, my local shop looked at it, and he suspects it is a bad die. Should be getting the new set by noon, we will see.

Just ignore opinions like this. It's a 9mm case not the Camp Perry finals. 1960's technology got us to moon if you want to post about old shiat that doesn't work. Speakin of work it's time to get out of here . . . .

I am also a firm believer that 1960`s and 70`s products are some of the best (maybe not safest) products of our modern society. Part of that was because we overbuilt, instead of over-engineered. With todays engineering understanding of materials, fluids, and manufacturing, combined with economies of scale, $0.03 per part over 100k parts adds up. Combine that with planned obsolescence, and now we are at "21st Century" technology, which longevity wise is worse than 1960's. But thats a whole new can of worms.

the Lee crimp die also work as a sizing die to bring to factory specs.,,but theres no way to mistake the two,,

Haven't seen it mentioned, but really clean brass has a tendency to "gall" or not run through dies smoothly. I would inspect the carbide ring, the tapered "entry way" into the die and measure the ID of the sizing ring.

I too get tired of Lee Bashing and I have used Lee tooling, along with most other manufacturers, from the start 1969). I have seen "Tool Snobs" first hand as I worked in a high end Heavy Equipment Repair shop for 25 years, and the ignorance is apparent in reloading also...

Lawn darts brought out the idiot in a lot of users...
