NEW Bat action coming out today

A good action is a good action. What makes one good is actually pretty basic stuff. I have built exceptional rifles on a few different manufactures. If they are right they will shoot. I doubt I will ever be 100% satisfied with anything.

This is the kind of person everyone should want to build a rifle for them. I know I would.

that's the challenge when agging a season you cant rely on luck of good relays over the course of ten matches on 5 different weekends 10 total days to shoot small aggs. more goes into being a "solid" competitor than lucky relays and sound equipment is a large part of the equation and cost is just a result of quality parts that's all. I would agree money only does so much then you have to apply all you know but with any topic it takes a bit of spending to get where your going. its also good to question everything otherwise we would not advance as a collective or as individuals for that matter. parts are not just parts different materials really can and do give different results in the development on paper. this additional offering is just that a extension of what is known to this point. you have to believe in order to see. Alex wheeler and guys like him simply don't stop and for that we all benefit even if things appear to be bat shit crazy. luck has very little to do with it on the long end of things.. we are in for another exciting year guys

I hope these actions are a winner. I love my Panda. It has shot good from day one as a LV. Had it changed to a score gun and it continues to impress me in HV trim. It's always been good. Significant cock on close is the one downfall of the system. I have a BAT DS that runs a lot smoother and shoots great, but day in and day out if I had to pick one, the Panda is going with me in spite of the cock on close.

I for one, welcome innovation and competition, so I hope this action exceeds expectations. BAT is obviously not doing something that Kelbly hasn't been doing for ages with aluminum. I just like that there is a new alternative. A smooth running aluminum action sounds like a winner to me.
 
The horizontal lugs are very interesting to me. Definitely some out of box thinking going on. Very interested in how this pans out. We all benefit from people like Alex, that question every piece and part of a rifle. This is how we advance and move forward to more new records and better aggs. This knowledge does not come easily or economically. Thanks for sharing.

The 2 Neuvo Actions I have feature the horizontal lugs.
One is set up to shoot LV. I have both a 6PPC and a 30BR barrel for it.

At this time, I cannot say it shoots any better than my LV Farley or my HV30BR Farley. Both of these actions are mid 1990’s vintage.

Seekins has been doing horizontal lugs on their “HAVAK” action ever since it debuted. Granted BAT will produce a more precise receiver and their design is different but locking the lugs in a horizontal 3 and 9 o’clock position is not a new concept. Actually makes more sense in a repeater action than it does a single shot.

I have never seen aPanda that had to be “sent somewhere” to get it right.

Around 20+ years ago, there was a rather well known Gunsmith who was charging shooters to “accurize” their Kebly Panda‘s. He was told by George, publicly, to cease and desist.

Jackie, I was doing a lot of work to Pandas. They knew exactly what I was doing. They sent them with the firing pin hole not drilled or assembled, no extractor cut or flutes. The problem with screw in shrouds is if those threads are not straight its very hard to correct. I have run into that issue more with threads than non threaded shrouds. Its all about sample size. After you go through hundreds of actions I guess you find all the issues. Its not common but it does happen. But to be very fair, and to piss everyone off equally I'll say this.... EVERY action made needs work to make it as good as it can be. Even the action Im talking about in this thread will not leave my shop the same as it came in. :) :)

Every time the harmonics go through another material they loose energy. Also, we all know that the trigger lifts the rear of the bolt. Once its released and pressure builds, the bolt body slams against the action body. My guess is the aluminum actions ad less harmonics.

I was watching a video last week, and they mentioned that their firing pin could be more level. They where asked if they wanted it fixed. I had never heard of this. Can this be fixed on a Remington 700?
