NEW Bat action coming out today

Everyone shoots for different reasons. Some are just there for fun and are happy to just not come in last. Some are there to win, others are after records, ext. My interest is in building a better rifle. I have worked on every aspect of these things for years trying to get the most out of every component. Actions, triggers, scopes, stocks, barrel specs, my own techniques in the build process, ext. Its been a worth while pursuit. The rifles track records are the proof. This is just one more of those things, I hope it improves the agg records.

A good action is a good action. What makes one good is actually pretty basic stuff. I have built exceptional rifles on a few different manufactures. If they are right they will shoot. I doubt I will ever be 100% satisfied with anything.

OCD drives those wanting to do well.
I’ve always had a need to do the best I could, with what I had.
Winning is fun, but it’s not about beating your friends, it’s about beating yourself and the conditions. There are Infinite combinations in this arena.
The challenge is Endless, and that’s what makes it fun!

Tom, if you ever feel the itch to shoot a match I will bring a second well tuned rifle to Harry Jones. We miss you at matches.

Dave.

Thanks Dave. Thats very generous, and I appreciate you. My point being ( without trying to derail Alex’s thread), is guys try to wring evey last grain of performance from their hardware. If working with a new action helps, itll be no different than trying the newest XYZ, or anything else. There is an insatiable addiction, to chasing tighter little holes

Mark my words on this date and time. We will be able to point to the timeline once these are in use and "see it". No different than when I look at the 1,000 yard aggs. I can easily "see" the dasher coming along, I can "see" custom bullets coming along, I can "see" the BRA coming along, I can "see" the deep creek tracker, and her ruddered siblings....ect. My prediction today is that you will "see" this action coming along....I could be wrong, have been before once! I'm excited that Alex finally got someone to do this.

I respect a lot of what's been said here, and respect a lot of the people posting. I am also a big fan of BAT actions, but the wheel hasn't been reinvented here. Kelbly has been doing Aluminum actions since the 60's. And his work and precision is arguably as good as BAT. Although not opposed to an Aluminum action, I just don't see why it's superior to steel. Haven't harmonics been addressed with tuners? Weight savings is like 3 or 4 ounces so not big savings there when building a 17lb gun.

I could possibly be swayed to by an Aluminum BAT and if someone can explain why it's superior I will place the order, as it stands now, a chrome moly B is more than likely going to be the next one

agreed... Alex has been dreaming of this version for 3-4 years that I know of at least, i'm just as excited and being a panda owner for awhile now and the LR nuevo short of the aluminum body the two can't be more different..

Im not here to sway anyone. Just letting people know about something new.

Ok,
I used a lot of pandas. They were my favorite for a long time. I still really like them and use them. Part of that was the aluminum. Im convinced it is part of their success. We saw this with the Vipers too.
I have personal preferences, that are my own and do not mean there's a "problem" with an action. I wont let a rifle out of here thats not properly timed with the correct amount of pin fall and energy. That was a lot of work on a Panda. They are designed to have cock on close. A lot of guys wanted drop ports. I had to cut those in, and install the extractor. Back then they only used sliding plate extractors and I did a run of 10 with sakos and they ejected the br case awesome. But I had to cut in the extractors. Id order the bolt un fluted so I could install the extractor then send them to Paul for the flues around the extractor. My next step was to make teflon plugs and purchase masking fluid to mask off the steel inserts and start hard anodizing the aluminum bodies. You can see the amount of work I put into them to make them what I wanted. That does not mean there was any need for what I did, Im not saying there was any problem. I just want what I want. This action should have pretty much everything I want from the factory.
