Bat Mavrick

Ok guys, I said I would do a review on the new Bat Mavrick action. I will try to stay in my own lane. You have to buy them from Brunos, but it was designed by Bat. I have been trying to get Bat to update the B action and it may or may not happen but some of that design request is in this action and it proves to me how good the updated B would be.
Some features that are unique to this action... It has a 75 degree bolt throw, but its still a 6 and 12 o'clock lug position in lock up. You can do that with a full diameter bolt, not a standard 2 lug with horizontal lug ways. See the pics to understand.
My favorite thing about it is the closing cams. By shortening the closing cams (the extraction cam follows as well) it allows you to widen the cocking cam on the bolt. Which makes for a sallower angle and easier bolt open. This action opens like a 90 degree even though its a 75. And you do not sacrifice timing. This is the best timed action out of the box I have felt.
Obviously this is an aluminum body action with steel inserts. Its actually slicker than a steel body, just like the aluminum Nuevo.
This one they just sent me is the latest version. There were some internal changes to improve ejection. With those short cams you do have to compress the ejector before you can close the bolt so a light spring is important for feel. Now ejection is 100% no matter what. They also made some other small tweaks. The current version is a very nice action if you like a smaller port and stroke.
Now the question is what do you guys think I should build on it?20251028_161415.jpg20251028_161443.jpg20251028_161452.jpg20251028_161506.jpg

What is the total weight of the action and bolt? Seems stout and highly tuneable - and if it's as light as it looks, one might wonder if it'd be a good F-TR platform.

A whole quarter pound of weight savings over a Panda is pretty compelling. Unless my eyes deceive me, it appears that this is another flat-bottomed action, correct?

Alex, do you ascribe to the theory that flat-bottom designs help the overall platform to manage and mitigate torque from larger calibers?

Interesting way to index the steel tenon. Does the tenon accept any current BAT barrels or does this action have it's own barrel tenon spec? Does the lug for the rail extend the full length of the receiver? Any idea what the bolt to receiver clearance is?

Lots of questions, I know. Thanks for posting this, Alex. :) -Al

This will answer most of the questions and includes the tenon print: https://www.batmachine.com/actions/mavrick/
I read: Tenon is specific to Mavrick. Lug for rail is full length. Bolt clearance spec same as BAT B.

I do like a flat surface where the action screws are if its a bedded action. Round actions can twist no matter how tight the screws are, an xp cut wont stop it either. On a glue in I dont care.

The print looks the same as the Nuevo. 30 degree cone, so it should take nuevos barrels or the 25 degree B,DS,S,3l, barrels. Yes the lug is full length, they offer the 2 piece dove tail mounts also. I will have to measure the clearance when I get back from TD, but it should be .002-.0025".
