Most Accurate Rimfire Under $900

I am looking for suggestions for the most accurate rimfire I can buy, off the shelf, under $900. I shoot F Class Open normally and wanted to shoot something that didn't involve reloading to maintain my trigger time in the off season. Just looking for something that groups well, weight not an issue. I know there is a lot of new stuff like Tikka and Ruger RPR rimfires, and the golden oldies like CZ.

For the money a CZ 455 Varmint is the way to go. Around $450. I have 2 455 varmints, with shoot great. I have shot 1" groups at 150 yds with mid price ammo. I have a Swfa SS 20X scope on both. Scope is reg $299, but are on sell until 30th. for $260. You can get the gun and scope for less $900. I would like to see a Tikka my self.

I'd look for a used Anschutz MPR.

I've never had a Anschutz which did not shoot well, if not excellent. Not the case for some other brands.

A sleeper, if you can find one in that price range, are the old Kimber 22's, both Co's. The SVT was a fine shooting repeater.

I'd also extend the budget a few hundred to get into a nice rifle than settling for...

I have a 64 MPR in 17hmr that’s my most accurate rimfire at 100y. Has a fantastic two stage trigger. Got it for $900 lightly used.

Of course at any price, the actual accuracy will vary. Any situation where you can test fire first and select is superior at any price point.

The CZ 455 with Lilja barrel will shoot pretty regularly in and under 1/4” at 50. I’ve got 2 as well as a slew of other 22s, including the Anschutz variants and I end up shooting the CZs with a Yo Dave trigger kit. As has been said you can build a 1/4” 10/22 with cool guy guns parts that fits the bill. The triggers aren’t as good until you spend the money on the Kidd but that would put you over the $ figure. Kidd’s barrels are the best and only $200. 10/22, Kidd barrel, bolt, pin locks and Volquartsen scope base that bolts to barrel.

Good luck

Your question presumes there is consistency within a model or make of rifle. THERE IS NOT.

Most are average, with more and less accurate examples at each end of the bell curve, like everything else in life.

There are many CZs more accurate than many Anschutzs, and vice versa. Or Sakos, Remingtons, etc.

You can roll the dice on a new rifle, or buy a proven used one.

If someone tells you how accurate their rifle is, ask them to sell it to you...Tom

I knew I was gettin' old -- but I never expected to see a CZ called a "golden oldie"! FWIW, though, I think a CZ or Tikka would be a top choice. For $900 or less I can't see how you could go wrong with either. For a bit more, an Anschutz 64 should do nicely.

MY Thoughts.....

Kimber 82G

Anschutz M54 used - watch for - Matching serial # of the bolt to the action, good condition.
(I have 2 used Anschutz's. Both have 2-stage triggers. 1. a 1966 M54 model 1411 and 2. a 1968 M54 model 1413- Both shoot very well @ 100 yards when you feed it the Ammo it likes. Eley Black Box and Center X by Laupa). Sorry, they are not for sale.

Anschutz Model 64 MPR- 2 stage trigger - Used these are known to shoot very well also.

There are others, Post a wanted to purchase add at clubs you belong to, ask to shoot rifles that are a good candidate, ask current owner how it shoots and be specific, one persons good is another's - not so good.

You will be looking for something that can place shots with a Good Scope -
Rimfire F-Class 100 yd A-33 target - 10 ring - 1.045 ,
9 ring - 2.245

Strictly curiosity, how much does one of these Anschutz's sell for these days in good condition?

They do very, Gun Broker Anschutz M54 - $900-1100.00
From a Club member that's moving on to something else a Little cheaper can be had $800-900.00.

Anschutz M64 MPR - $800-$1000.00 used from individual.

Kimber M82G - used - $600-650.00- they can still be purchased from individuals at this $$.
dealers a little more $750.00-800.00. they are out there.

Most of these 22 rifles can shoot very well, they usually can use a good cleaning from my experience.
a couple of wet patches , then-Rimfire Blend and a 22 Pistol brass brush, followed up with more wet patches then dry patches. Test rifles and ammo on days with a light wind, early morning are usually good.
