Ah! And where would that be in these groups?

[br]Erik Cortina said:Jim, I agree with Steve. Find the widest node and load to the middle of it. If temps will be higher, load to the bottom of the node. Do the opposite if the temps will be cooler, but don't load outside the node.
When you test seating depth, only move .003" at a time.

Thanks.
If I may indulge you a bit more - what do you like about 52.4 / 52.6 better than 53.0 / 53.2?
The answer is important, because to me there's no obvious differentiator, so I'd like to program the CPU between my ears.

I see now. Load 53.2 is a good one.
Flat Land Shooter said:Erik - when you look at the center of the groups in relationship to the center of the bull and measure the vertical, what is an acceptable variation?
I know they won't all be the same, so what is an acceptable +/- ?
I shot 5 different charges of varget today, all at .005 jam.
Vertical variation for the best 3 as follows:
44 = 3/16 vertical - tight vertical string all three touching
44.5 = 5/16 vertical - nice clover leaf, all three touching
45 = 3/8 vertical - open vertical string, two touching
Should I load more of the 44.5 and work on seating depth, or load on up to 45.5 & 46
I really appreciate your help!

falconpilot said:May I ask... Exactly what are you using as a seating die to get that accurate of seating depth, and second, what are you even using to read it?

Yes, +-.0005" or better.

Can you post a picture?
Sounds like 44.5 is the one though. Load 44.5 and work on seating depth. Shoot 3 shot groups moving the bullet .003" into the case each group. Load 10 groups and you should see the groups tighten.
