IBS Long Range Rulebook

`Seb Stan and I would like you to come to the Nationals and the World Open! Jim is just a Grumpy Old man! LOL Maybe you could give him a good deal on one of your rests? Put a smile on his face.

Joe Salt

Hi Joe,
I was told that he (Jim) hasn't shot in actual match in 5 years or so.
Hope that he can come and have fun!

Seb, I will most likely attend the World Open @ Williamsport.. Thoughts of attending the National in Georgia also depending..

"don't like the NEO rest (or "think" that it's not comply with the rules)"

This isn't the case, understanding the reason for the rule clarification and appreciating the quality of your rests are two completely different topics..You seem like you are a good steward of the sports also, but if it gets you to attend the World Open you can label me as anything as you like.. No hard feelings here..

Seb I believe Jim sold all his good rifles, that's what he told me a while ago! I don't think he likes getting beat. But he might come out to play if he gets something working. He was at our World Open, two years ago and I thought he was a pretty nice guy to talk to. Jim, I can let you use one of my rifle if yours won't shoot! Or Matt may have one.

Joe Salt

By coming and meet you there I do hope that I can explain all the things you want to know/be explained, directly.
I can explain/proof it that my (regular/production) rests already met or exceeded the aforementioned rules. I can proof it to you all that the top design does not allow you to trap your stock in the bag (etc) when the front bag is set and sand filled properly, whether it's the 1pc bag or the 3pc bag. It's all about how you use the rest / top and bag fill, not the rest's faulty/design etc.
English is not my main language, but "face to face" I am sure you would/can understand everything I say/explain.

Re; Jim.
To me, IF Jim has problem with my rest, he can contact me directly, explain what he wants or what he wants me to do. Not by putting his finger on my nose / on my rest, in a public forum, especially without any proof / fact.
Jim always says that my rest/neo "does not Ok", or "not legal?", again and again, since 2012 and until today, and to my best understanding only by "his standard". (He seems to refer on my old/prototype rest and bags, which is not up to date). I have made some changes and improvements on my rests.
And then very recently he says that the side tension screws "should be lower", again in public forum, whilst it has nothing to do with how it works. I'd suspect that he doesn't know/understand that lowering the side tension screws (in my rest top) will not change anything - only make the thumb screw to interfere with the bottom bag in the 3 pc bag configuration.
You can also see the thread is not about the neo rest..How could he brings my rest into the "this discussion", AGAIN??? Why don't he complain other rests, or how other shooters set their front bag, to be fair enough??? Why only the NEO??? I am sure he have seen many other rests in his shooting career. I can proof it that - you can trap your stock (far more) easily in/with other rests by its design! I am sure he also knows that. Again why only the neo?
That's not fair, indeed! That's why I consider/take it as personal attack or a character assassination - especially that he did it again and again / repeated from time to time.

Jim, do you have/had problem with me, personally???

Just so you know that I am all ears and respect any valuable inputs / criticism. I even seek inputs when designing things. I always try to improve my products, do give back etc.... How could I don't accept good/valuable input???
Yes I might look dumb with my poor English (I am sure), but I can build things and know how to sort out the good thing and the not. I also know the difference between constructive input and bad mouthing. I also know the difference between genuine words and the not.

I do hope that, after I met him & discussing about the rest / his objections etc, we can sort it out the issue.
We are all adult people. I will also shake his hands and congratulate him when he wins!

....................

Joe,
I don't have a rifle specially built for long range BR right now...
Mr. Taylor (Stan) offered me to shoot in Georgia using his rifle, but I don't know if he would shoot the World Open so I have no clue if I could come to the World Open.
Would love to try to shoot the match, for sure.
I don't think I could build a new rifle within the time frame.
If you think I can get a loan rifle, please let me know.

Ray,

By all means/due respect, I think this is not about understanding the reason for the rule clarification.

If someone needs something to be straightened /explained, it's his obligation to ask/write to the Commitee, not in a public forum like this.

Jmho,
seb.

1. I respectfully disagree, when said and done you and your rest get high remarks..

2. The Neo gets cleared on a public forum as legal and compliant..

3. We get to meet you at the Open and or Nationals..

Ray

Seb No problem with the rifles I have an extra L.g. and H.G.! If you want to just shoot L.g in both classes that's fine no problem.

I love meeting with men of your Caliber, that can come up with a rest that nice and the only problem anyone can see is the bag configuration!
That should be an easy fix. The one in your picture looks fine to me, but I'd like to see it in person.
Oh if you could bring a rest just in case we are in the same relay 3" for L.G. 6" if you wold like to try H.G. If I'm correct one or all of your rest will accommodate both, which is a plus in my book. I send you a pm.

Joe Salt

Evidently, very few people have a problem with the bag configuration on the SEB rests! To simplify the rule even further: The sandbag shall be a minimum of 1/2 inch thick over its entire surface where in contact with the forearm of the stock.

Joe, pm replied.

1. I will arrange to be there in the World Open, either Jim is there or not.
2. Yes I will take your offer to use your LG/HG.
3. Will send a MAX soon (better for both rifles/stocks). Please provide a shipping address + phone #.
4. How to register etc, can you help?

Thanks,
seb.

Stan,

I decided to attend the World in PA, thank you for your understanding!
I will still send you a rest, though. I feel owe with/to you sir!

ATB,
seb.

Wow.
I was able to be gone last week to hunt hogs in TX with a good friend. Between the two us, 12 hogs went down-Night hunting! Seb asked me to check this thread right before I left and I didn't have time. He didn't realize I was going to be gone.
So far I have only read the last page.

Hey Seb, I think this thread is a conspiracy to get you into another long range shooting discipline:D...And it worked!!!

Sebastian is a man of integrity, who loves competition shooting, and those who compete. He is always improving his work, and he loves to listen to shooter's suggestions (ones who are being reasonable/respectful) and has made changes based on those suggestions.
If anyone is challenging his integrity or making fun of his English usage, they should be seriously ashamed.
I would hope that everyone will participate as an adult, for the rest of this thread.
Just from reading the last page, I want to say, "Thank You!" to those who have encouraged Seb, and to those who have "hooked" him into another discipline:D

Seb Hope you got my E- Mail if not let me know! You think you have problem with English. I have problems with the Computer and English!
You are one generous man.

Joe Salt

Seb Just watched your Video on the Computer and and everything looks great to me, you have a one piece bag and you used a half inch spacer to check it.
So I think the original bag was why people were complaining. Seb has done a great job on the improvements, I can't think of anything that can be done that it Wouldn't pass IBS, NBRSA, Williamsport rules!

Joe Salt

His Video was all I needed to see, I have a Hart Rest and yes you can trap the rifle if you want, I don't want mine too!

Joe Salt

All I was concerned about was the 1/2" rule. and trapping the rifle. I'm sure there are still a lot of them out there that were the original set up. probably the short range guys more than long range. We past the three piece bag last year, so its more the trapping than anything.

Joe Salt

The 3 piece bag has never been legal in short range. Thats why mike ratigan sells his model with features more suited to short range br benchrest
