Just a reminder: Manatee IBS 600 Registered Matches
Starting this Saturday Nov. 25th we will start the first of 5 consecutive registered 600 yard IBS matches at the Manatee Gun and Archery club. They will be held on the fourth Saturday of each month.
http://internationalbenchrest.com/schedule/longrange.php Shooters should bring their own chairs if possible, as those we are providing may not be up to your standards. We have 16 quality concrete benches under a solid overhead. A few 115VAC outlets are available.
We will have 1 NRA wind flag this month set at approximately 300 yards, in addition to 2 or 3 field wind flags closer. We welcome and encourage shooters to set up their own field flags.
Pre-registration is strongly encouraged.
Day of the match registration will open at 7:30am at the Benchrest range and close promptly at 8:30, IBS safety briefing at 8:45 and call to the line at 9:00 am.
Match fees will be $10 per rifle / per class. All shooters must also register with the Manatee Gun Club and pay the daily shooting fee. Currently that is $5 for members and $20 for guests. We can collect that fee at the BR range at a rate of $6 and $22. Covers the tax changed at the clubhouse. Top 2 places in both LG and HG will receive a small trophy in addition to the IBS patch
Equipment specifications and all other match rules will follow all current “IBS Rules of Competition”; rulebook #13 updated Jan 2016.
Some good points: High berms run the full length on each side of the range. Covered firing points and space provided for equipment under roof. Match will be held at the designated
Bench Rest range away from the public range. We specifically selected these dates to follow our annual snowbird season. Why not plan on bringing your equipment and shoot while the wife and family enjoy our beaches. We will be using the custom match software provided by Mike McBride. Many thanks to him for providing and helping with our getting it running properly.
Some issues to consider: We have set up the target line at 602 yards from the front of the shooting benches. The impact berm for sigthers between the targets is at approximately 628 yards. This does create a significant difference in elevation. Check your elevation charts to adjust for on-target hits. For many it seems to be about 1/2 to 3/4 MOA. The berms are for the most part dry and hitting or missing clays is now obvious.
Manatee is one of the few places in South Florida to offer a Benchrest shoot like this. We may not be up to holding a National Championship any time soon, but I think you will find our matches run professionally and welcoming.
Manatee Gun Club has a number of RV sites with electric and water. Contact the club for information and reservations.
