Hard carbon deposits

I've found some powders to be much worse concerning hard carbon deposits. Varget gives me really nice groups but I avoid it because the hard carbon shows up quick and it builds up fast, too.
Same here. . . . after thousands upon thousands of 6mmBR rounds, I've arrived at the same conclusion.

I use it it a 260Rem and haven't noticed it to be much worse than most other powders. It will give me a carbon ring if I don't keep after it but at least I don't notice buildup in the rest of the barrel like Varget.

I use Varget in my AR-15 XTC Service Rifle. My son's Service Rifle uses AR-Comp. The Varget carbon in-barrel is harder to remove than the AR-Comp, but also the muzzle carbon is very stubborn for Varget. The AR-Comp just wipes away. Both rifles run flash suppressors.

If you have serious carbon. First protect any optics. and any wood finishes.

Go to Walmart and get a pint of metal can B12 Chemtool.

Using either a glass container or metal container.

Pretend your going to spit shin some combat boots. That little bit of water you would put in the tin of the boot polish lid.

Soak a patch and put it on a jeg and pass it trough and let is soak in. Then brush. Rinse and Repeat just like your wifes shampoo and conditioner!

If you have a super stubborn black powder barrel plug it fill and let it soak over night. There is nothing in B12 Chemtool that will attack the steel. It is not like strong ammonia and poor quality steel.

The Parts Dip gallon can is stronger but harder to find and far more expensive.

Again protect optics and wood finishes!!!

It melts carbon like my microwave melts butter! The spray can stuff is not as strong just like the pint cans are not as strong as the gallon paint can size.
