Calling all 20 cals...Let's see your wildcats!

No sir, back then it was all that was available. The 40 Berger is relatively short and works well for this rifle and on coyotes.
The 40 VMax is absolutely too long and will not work.I was at high altitude too in Colorado and shooting them pretty fast. When it's time I will definitely get an eleven for this rifle. This rifle shoots incredible well but to look at the bore you'd never know it.Bore scopes are very helpful but sometimes I think many a barrel have been chunked too early because of them.
For those that are curious the 20 AR is the idea of Greg Tannel a .030" longer body length 20 Tactical this was conceived to make loading on his Dillon easier. I used the 33 VMax back then and let me tell you it clobbered rock chucks, coyotes and crows in the high country. In essence it performs like a well built .204.
20 calibers have come a long way in 25 years, hoping they keep going with more bullet choices in the future.

Matt
Would you mind posting a pic of that 20AR case? Anxious to see that one as I don’t recall seeing one of those before.

@TRSR8—both of those rifles are straight up gorgeous. Wow, the wood on those rifles. Almost too pretty to hunt with! Thank you for sharing.
Welcome. Dakota finish was decent but I brought them along with several coats of Arrow wood oil to a nicer level….stuff takes time but works great.

Dang never would have dreamed a 13 would stableize any 40
If you focus on the bearing length you can see it is a mite shorter as well as overall length. Doesn't seem like much of a difference but that Berger just luckily works.Back then I only shot the 33vmax and got a few splashes and figured the new Berger 40 might just use the horsepower to advantage so I slowed my roll a bit and it worked great at killing coyotes.

Id love to see a 39gr sierra GK softpoint! I miss the discontinued 45gr hornady soft point. That was a premium coyote thumper that shot well in a 12”tw. O well

Id love to hear more about this. Have a 22 hornet CZ i have considered doing something with
Trim length 1.150, 9.6 gr W296, 32gr vmax, 1.51 OAL, 11twist. As stated it was designed by Kevin Harrington of Dover Plains NY. It's an extremely accurate round and at 700 rounds per pound it's very fuel efficient. Manson will make a reamer for it.

One thing I would add is order the reamer that headspaces off the shoulder and not off the the rim. Works out much better. Also Kevin use to offer brass for the .20 Mink if one is not inclined to make it yourself. 7315br

Great advice.

I'm pretty sure thats a 32 Nosler Varmageddon, 39 BK is green tipped unless its bad lighting.

That appears to be a 39 bk. What is the velocity goal?
41gr
Looks like a custom bullet w the tip removed from one to me. Ive been wrong before.
Correct

Gonna say Zen is using the Hammer bullets
One w/o the tip next to one w/ the tip-
This… Still fire forming cases. This I fully fire formed case is 3880FPS, 41gr bullet. I’m only gaining 1gr fully fire formed and haven’t worked up that load yet.

Also the .20 Mink is a GREAT "Sage Rat" GS round. I have two. I've shot thousands and thousands of rounds through them. 4th picture is the .20 Mink on the left and my loooong range big boy (1200 yd) 22-243 Imp PD rd on the right. 7315br
Gosh, I remember the days of those big boomers on PD towns. 22-250AI, 243, 6MM REM AI, 6-284. My favorite, 22-250AI wade into a PD town with 400 rounds Buy a new barrel when I got home. The 6-284 would go south sometimes less than 100 rounds. I have a Vartarg and a 17 Ackley hornet now and will build a 17 Squirrel soon.
