ADG 300 wsm brass testing

i sort twice on comp brass.
i do an initial sort,
then full prep( neck turn, primer pocket uniform depth, fl size, trim to length, de burr(not in order)
typically this is three lots, my primary lot and the lot on either side,
i then reweigh and sort,
i try to start with a large lot..like 500 or more.

I assume order is fl size with expander in (or mandrel opening), trim, turn, de-burr?

If you fully process each of the 3 lots anyway you may want to skip your first weight sort until after your prep as it changes the weights of each case. Less work but more consistent results because you are controlling all dimensions instead of a factory, should tighten those tails a little in your distribution.

Also I think any sorting method produces the most accurate result after each case has been fired with a competition strength load and resized in your die so the piece of brass with the shortest distance to the shoulder datum is reliably just touched by your die shoulder. Then every piece of brass you have should be the same length to the shoulder datum. Then trim and deburr again. Then do your sort of choice.

your suggestion to process all is a joke, and show you are pushing your OPINION, not facts.
if i process all first
it is 500 pcs
which cost me money. i normally sell off small lots to hunters which i cannot due if all neck turned for MY CHAMBER.
tons of wasted time on brass that will never be used
your guide is a joke in that you start with 6.5 creed as a "precision" rifle. START with a rifle that has a proven long range record. 6bra, 6 dasher, 300 win mag 300 wsm. test at 1000 to provide DATA for your steps. lots of charts and graphs. not much actual PRECISION SHOOTING.

If you are separating lots by standard deviations you are likely already processing 2/3-3/4 of the brass anyway.

It costs you time unless you have someone else do it for you.

Your processing, trimming, turning, and pocket uniforming all change the weight of the brass. If you sort by weight before doing this it is going to change the result of the sort.

This tech article supports weight sort after material removal.

Hunters care if the brass is turned 1-2k off? Doesn't neck turning improve the results of a load developed with any brass? You would be doing them a favor. A standard full length die over sizes brass drastically and can work consistently for any realistic neck thickness.

Its not my guide. I did not produce it. I posted it as supporting evidence of a single point. Consistency of internal volume measurements improves with firing and sizing.

I hope you are just having an off day. I'm not going to fault you or think different of you for this single interaction we have had, nor do I want others to.

I size all my brass super hard. Small shoots good. Many times fireforming shoots better then anything else. Didn't you ever read the saying from the guy from Sierra? Your cases should fit like a rat turd in a violin case. Matt
 
UPDATED 01FEB2022:

CURRENT– Extremely limited amount of 300 WSM brass will hit the website some time this week. 300 WSM will run again sometime late Q3.

Next is 7 Rem mag/300 Win Mag, then PRC’s, then SAUM’s again.

28 Nosler cups are due to arrive late Q2 and will be squeezed into production as soon as they arrive.

Creedmoor said they only had enough to fill backorders and no more. Not sure when Unknown will post but was told they would not take backorders on it.
 
I asked creedmoor and they said about 50 back orderes were filled, I would assume some ordered 1-3 boxes and some a lot more…..if avg order was 6-8boxes (300-400pieces) = 15,000-20,000 pieces total ?

I got 3 boxes from the back order….plenty for me, no “big” matches for me , fed ex says I will have it Friday….exciting….. have Bertram to compare with

it also appears ADG is doing a lot of “smaller” runs to cover their line up more often, then big runs of each….just guessing
