7mm PRC?

Alex, do you tend to think the more overbore the more finicky? I've heard the really overbore, and I hate to use that term just can't think of a better one, like the 7RUM and 28 Nosler can be very finicky.
Yes. Thats why BR cases are as small as they can be to hit the nodes we want to run. Even a small change can make a big difference.

The reason I like this 7 PRC is I can't get 7SS on the shelf, rather its a not crazy stocking year or not. I will reload but in the event I need a box I atleast have a chance at a major retailer.
Good point. I keep plugging the Sherman since I know
people shooting them with excellent results. We have a
shot out SAUM barrel in the shop we'll rechamber to the
7 Sherman for a fire forming barrel.

That and i think 7 prc is still a 4350 and 4831 class cartridge where saum and Sherman are 4831 and h1000 class (all with 180s). So it probly depends on how much of what powder you have to decide chambering. I like the long neck and shoulder angle of Sherman for a single shot rifle so I will keep that in mind when my saum is fried.

I originally thought, for my needs, the 7 SAUM was the perfect 7mm for me. I love the 7mm remington magninum and got my dad into one after he saw mine but wanted to use a short action I had just laying around.

Now with this hint if a 7 PRC, it cures my 7mm need, easing any concerns I had with the 6.5 prc not being enough, and I'll have factory options.

I've looked at the 7 SS alot! And I love that the owner is around this forum. My only hang up is the factory option if I need it. I dont even think the SS prices are outlandish. But when I travel, say home to Alaska, I know even in the city I won't ever find SS anything.

So medium action for 7 PRC just like 6.5 PRC? With XM and the LP/Stiller/Zermatt mediums being different now, and the stock/magazine options being hard to come by for either, it’s another nightmare. I moved on past the 7 SAUM due to this, and to the 280AI, since at least LA magazines/stocks are simple.

A long Bighorn, or most any controlled round feed I would guess, chambers 6.5 Creedmoor very well. Heavier though, and those that definitely know long range accuracy seem to favor matching the action to the cartridge length from what I've read here.

Backfire on Utube just posted a video today about the 6.8 Western and at about the 14:20 minute mark he talks about the new 7mm PRC. Supposedly it uses a long-action.

Hard to believe nobody makes dies for the 6.8 western after it's been out for over a year. No third party brass manufacturers making brass for it either. Both huge negatives for that cartridge. Things to definitely consider

Best way to kill off a cartridge.....No after market support.
Truthfully, the PRC's are not catching the world on fire as
long as they have been out. The Market is over crowded
with options. In itself, that's a good thing but bad news for
manufactures to keep up filling every niche, and the tooling
costs.

I wouldnt say that, at least on the custom rifle side they are very popular. ADG and Lapua make brass for the 6.5 and 300 PRC. They are not going any where in my opinion. They are magnums, so they are never going to see the popularity of something like the 6.5 creedmoor.
