Yeah - if I were wanting a 7mm Mag-style rifle - that PRC would be of great interest to me. My current 7 MM Rem. Mags will probably keep me till I croak.Pretty simple to call JGS and give the neck specs for the 300PRC case. Recently found a .25/300 PRC reamer for sale. Considered it as well but realized I didn't need more horse power than I already have in that caliber. Seems about equal to the 7mm mag performance minus the belted cartridge. I can see where getting away from that would be an advantage also the longer neck for using the 195s and allowing more case capacity.
Kinda peeking from a good distance because I don’t(shouldn’t) need a new rifle. What is going to be the best neck chamber measurement for the 7PRC with that .313 loaded neck?.313
I hate to ask bothering questions, but does the 7PRC require large Magnum primers?SAAMI is .318 so should be fine.
Brass mills put extra metal in rebated case heads! Thi gives more of an edge to the Ruger cases based off their 375 Ruger.Gotcha. You wouldn't expect that looking at them. The .500 vs .532 base makes a big difference.
I feel Hornady missed the mark here. The 7mm PRC’s short neck belies boat tailed bullets. I am going to squeeze a longer neck out of my 300RCM wildcats with these 7mm PRC cases. Boat tails need to stay inside the necks. Just my two cents!Or, you could just build a straight 284 which is equal to the necked up 6.5 PRC case. Lapua 284 brass would sure make life easier for you and probably lots of reamers already available. Just a thought.
Serious question, why would it matter if the boatail portion has no bearing surface?Boat tails need to stay inside the necks. Just my two cents!
