7mm PRC?

H2O capacity of the Hornady derived version is 78gr. A 300wsm is listed at 77gr and a 7mm Rem mag at 82gr for comparison.
Sounds about right
With that long freebore usable case capacity will probably be a lot closer or even equal to 7 RM with standard FB.

It’s a similar situation with 300 prc and 300 WM with standard FB.

Too bad about the WSM’s the longer 7 mm WSM with a longer neck and FB would be VERY interesting for hunting and target shooting.

I am assuming you got that from backfire? None of his numbers are correct for the other cases listed, all of which I have several brands of brass for. All are on the small side. Some by a large margin. I seriously doubt he has an actual case to measure. I would guess the capacity will be around 83-84 grains but until we get our hands on some brass it is just a guess.

The 7mm Blaser case, Norma brass, holds 83-84gr H2O This new 7mm PRC, comparing specs of those two, appears to be just a tad smaller so depending on how thick the cases are I'm going to guess they'll be around 80-82 so the 7mm Rem mag, 7MM Blaser, WSM, and this new 7PRC are all going to be very close in case capacity and will all likely be very similar in performance.

The 7-6.5 and 7-300 PRC cases are wildcats. The saami 7 PRC is different than both of them. So you will have to decide what you want. I will stick with the 7-6.5 for competition shooters but the 7 prc will make a nice hunting case. And and even better .30 case ;)
That's what I wast thinking 30-7PRC would be interesting if lapua is making brass

This thread is pretty fascinating. Did anyone catch the official announcement on the 7 PRC?
Oct 26th is what I recently read now,

"Hornady revealed in an interview on the Backfire Youtube channel that they plan to officially announce the cartridge on October 26, 2022 at the NASGW Expo. The 7mm PRC was approved by SAAMI on June 7, 2022 and the public introduction was released on June 16, 2022."

I think its going to an excellent cartridge, Basically an improved 7mm Rem Mag, I just received my reamer and RCC brass, waiting for Whidden die set which is in the mail, dropped my reamer, rifle and barrel off to the gunsmith yesterday so hopefully Ill have it soon, just rebarreling a Sako A7, 300 win mag donor, 1-8 twist, #2 contour 24 inch Benchmark Barrel.

Dang, I can't believe how similar this is to a 7mm Blaser Mag. It's like they changed the case measurements just barely enough to get away with calling it something different.

Regardless, with good factory support, unlike the 7mm Blaser mag that pretty much had none, it should make for a great new, well sorta new :), cartridge.

Ok got to the range this morning with the new 7mm PRC, 24.5 inch 1-8 twist #2 contour 5R Benchmark barrel, Sako A7 donor rifle.
New RCC Brass, Reloder 26, federal 215M primers, 175gr Berger Elite Hunters, COAL 3.337"

First 6 shots 63.0grs for zeroing/cleaning between shots, 2882/2861/2869/2855/error/2848

All 3 shot groups to follow

63.0- 2828/2822/2828 same hole
63.5- 2856/2849/2856 .48"
64.0- 2884/2895/2912 .57"
64.5- 2929/2946/2938 .97"
65.0- 2941/2945/2945 2.0"
65.5- OOPS. 2.0"
66.0-3011/3025/3027 1.75"
66.5- error/3033/3027 1.35"
67.0- 3095/3101/3106 .95" No pressure signs

Overall I thought it was pretty good velocity for a 24.5 inch barrel, it was a pleasure to shoot.

Nice work. Any chance you could get some case capacity numbers for us. If we're taking bets my money is on 80.5gr H20 filled to the top.

That must have a long FB if your COAL 3.337 with those Berger 175's and can't have but about .200 thou of bullet shank in the neck.

Ok I measured a once fired case 78.50 H2O, I’m sure the Hornady or Peterson brass would have a bigger internal volume

SADLY, They DID the SAME "Thing" on, the 6 Creed and "Aced Out",.. David Tub's 6XC that, is a slightly better Case design with a Longer Neck, ( EZier on,.. Bbl's ) And,.. MANY 1,000 Yard shoots, WON with,.. the 6 XC !
A tiny Royalty Check to, David and the 6 Creed would NEVER have made it to, production !
