7mm PRC?

Even if a rifle comes out, I wouldn't buy it until if proves to be an accurate reliable rifle also depending on who builds it. You definitely get a better barrel if you put one together yourself.
Agreed. Seems like tikka is the go to "factory" option....I've always had remingtons but the evo percision steel long action, has my eye for a budget friendly custom action.

I'd be shocked if this new 7mm PRC is a short action. I suppose I could continue with my SA but I'd have to jump I think to the mid length wyatt box instead of the brainy box I have. Right?
Just depends on the max bullet weight you'd use. You could easily use a SA with the 168 bullets with the 3.1 Baney Box and get almost full power loads. It's why I went to a short action hunting platform. It gave all I needed for my use.

Will be interesting to see if it's just a 6.5 necked up to 7 or if it's entire newly designed cartridge.

Time will tell. God knows we don't have enough 7mm cartridge designs and we all know that the PRC will get huge a following. I would say a non- belted, longer necked compatible cartridge to the 7mm mag would be appealing.

That's what I'm thinking and hoping. Maybe something similar to the 7 LRM?

The 7 prc is very close to the saum. For most applications the saum is the way to go. But for competition the saum is a bit too big in my opinion. I was asked to come up with a cartridge that would beat the 284 in f open. I can up with the 7 prc as my choice specifically because it was the closest in case capacity to the 284 with a far better case design. I expect it to take off in f open.

I have also done the big 7 prc, its close to a 28 nosler. Throat life was better but still pretty bad. I have gone away from big 7s for that reason. You can go to a 30 or 338 and the throat life is much much better and they are less finicky.

Alex, do you tend to think the more overbore the more finicky? I've heard the really overbore, and I hate to use that term just can't think of a better one, like the 7RUM and 28 Nosler can be very finicky.

Sounds like you are familiar with the 7PRC. Is it based off the 6.5 PRC case ?
