Its of particular interest to me because my Savage Model 12 is a 9 twist. I'm currently running 53gr vmax out of it, and I'm happy with what it does out to 300 yds. If my 20 practical ever arrives, it will give me nearly identical performance with even less recoil. Then the question becomes what to do with the savage. I've always been fascinated by the 223AI. If the stupid bullet would behave like math says it should, it would be pretty cheap to rechambering the barrel to an AI, and fire forming a bunch of LC 556 brass to see what it could do with this bullet. I've pushed 75gr amax at close to 3000 fps out of my 8 twist service rifle upper in the past. I won't say that it wasn't hard on the Win brass that I was using, but it made a significant difference in my 600yd scores. It seems like adding a little case capacity, another 6" of barrel, slowing the twist slightly, dropping the bullet weight by 13gr, and using a stronger 556 case should go a long ways towards increasing the velocity. Just not sure if I'd be able to run it accurately or not. If nobody has been able to make a 9 twist work, then its a moot point.
