Just the angle of the shoulder. Generally the IMP. is 40 deg.
You gain a little in capacity.

Like was said, 40 degraa shoulder, less body taper, different throat, ext. Extra horsepower and better brass stability, and will handle higher pressures.

Improved it will be then, my gunsmith only has a standard reamer. I will ask him nicely to get the imp no turn neck.

I just found this thread and fiinished reading it. While I’m not shooting groups, I do shoot steel plate matches from 550-1100 yds Prone off a bipod.
I had built a 300 SAUM for long range because the one I had was just a hunting rifle and it had shot exceptionally well and figured it would also at long range with a different barrel. I‘m shooting 200.20X bullets with BR2 primers, 58gr Reloader 17 at 2830fps out of a 26” barrel.
after reading this I will be trying H4350 and Reloader 23 and was thinking I’d try the 208 Hybrids once components become more accessible.
This was one of those targets as it was from the factory. 3 shots 190 VLD Berger.

I haven't yet jet but intend to as I have a Batch to try, i've used them in the past with solid results rich just not in the 30SAUM imp

when I handled them before was more like .050-.080 jump but how they would be handled today i would defiantly attempt a jam window as well knowing the geometry of said bullet..

Hi Kev. Just a heads up. I sent the bullets out this afternoon for the testing we discussed. Congrats on the score. For me, that wind on the last 2 relays was unreadable.

Sharing some fire forming data. Cases formed very good, no pressure. 57gr H4350, CCI 200 primer, Sierra 220 gr HPBT jammed, .002" neck tension. 3.3" 25 shot group at 550yd with one minute between shots to keep barrel cool. These were shots 20-45 on the Krieger barrel, it did speed up a bit. 2-7 mph head wind.

Thats really good for fire forming, kind of makes you want to see what those Sierras can do with a good tune!

Impressive!!! Those Sierra 220's flying true.
