62-grain ELD-VT with 9 Twist

I have a 22XC and 223AI both with 8 twist barrels shooting the 62gr-VT. Both shooting
bug holes and deadly on p-dogs. Vary stable.
Glad you hear you are having Great results! I'm thinking about going to 22XC after my 6mm XC barrel gives up the ghost. My initial thought was 9 twist but after all my research, I'm dead set on an 8 twist (when the time comes). I don't shoot comps, just long range steel and want to put my NV on this setup with my can for night hunting. I would try the 62's first, but if they don't pan out not sure what direction to go in. V-maxes would probably hold up to the fast rpm's better than most others. My concern would be a detonation inside the suppressor : O

Well now there is a new crop of 69 grain varmint bullets. Both Sierra and Hornady have come out with them. And it's hard to beat the 53 grain V-Max which shoots very well in an 8 twist.

This^^^
There are plenty of guys who have built predator rigs with 7 twist barrels, to shoot these 62vt's only to find they can't get them to shoot and now cannot run the lighter weight varmint bullets without backing velo's way down so they don't spin them apart. The on skin performance looks amazing with the 62's, IF you can get them to shoot.
Well, that's discouraging!

As urbanrifleman said, I'm not too understanding of the calculators, as I'm newer to this and do not fully understand it. I do use it for trajectories though.

All this as well as all my other guns will get sorted out when load development starts. I have to say, I was discouraged when I initially watched the video and then when Hornady said what they had to say. I built both the 22 and 6 Creedmoor's for long-range rock chucks and PD's under the advisement of both gunsmith and barrel manufacture.

Some of the thought was to take some twist out to lower pressure to extend barrel life a wee bit more if I remember right. Meanwhile, I have added the 69-grain ELD-VT as a bullet for load development.

Thanks guys!!!
