Tack Driver III live results

With regard to cartridge choice and the 6PPC dominating, I believe if all of the top finishers were shooting a well built, well tuned 6BR or BRA or 30BR, they would still be the top finishers.

Those are the guys that usually commit the most time to practice, tuning and attend the most matches throughout the year. It's pretty tough to top that, no matter which of those calibers you are shooting. They just happen to choose the PPC because that's their choice for the discipline they normally shoot.

I agree 100%.

Example... Bart won last year with 6bra. He won this year with 6ppc.

If he shot a 30-30 next year, i wouldnt bet against him.

I know of one shooter, Jeremiah Keefe, who shot a 6BR, but not with the usual fast twist high BC combination. He was shooting 68 grn Barts BT’s.
He did quite well in both Group and Score.
I think many shooters were like this, (Bart in particular), who have rifles for different disciplines, and went to the line with what they thought was the most accurate combination they had and relied on, for better or worse, their skill in reading conditions to get the job done.

As I said in a previous post, 300 meters is still within the realm of precision flag reading capabilities. Granted, it is on the far reaches of what we typically think of as “Short Range Benchrest”, but if the shooter is capable, the 6PPC shooting a typical 66/68 grn match bullet is still the most accurate combination going.

I have had several friends comment that 400 yards would probably be a better distance to meld the Short Range/Long Range crowd together, but I think, from seeing how Jim set the targets out way up on that Burm, that is simply as far as he could go.

Others have said that the flags should be limited to just strategically placed range furnished flags so larger caliber higher BC combinations would be more at home.

When you think about it, 300 meters is a heck of a long way considering the level of accuracy and precision that must be maintained to stay at the top.
