Chris, Dean and I had the opportunity to review the planning several years ago when the project was first developed. It was nothing official but more of a courtesy to Dean for his efforts to rebuild the pits and add the 600 and 1000 yard lines in the 1960s. Dean had a couple of constructive comments and I do not remember adding anything of significance. I will venture that Dean would be very supportive today and consider the change favorable. ClydeI see Soko likes this but it makes me kind of sad. I liked the target carriers and wish they would have spent the time and effort building an impact berm and re-routing/eliminating the road at the 600 yard line so we didn't need road guards. Then we could run 3 relays and save $100 a day. BUT, they didn't ask for my input so carry on...
Wonder what the new target frames will be like.
EDIT. I was thinking this over last night and wondered how Dean Herron might have felt about this? I didn't know Dean as well as Clyde, Rusty, Alvin, TN or a bunch of the others who brought me up through the years but I think he would have been thrilled to see the improvements. Improvements that more than likely will keep AEDC relevant and operational for years. Thinking of it like this makes it a lot more palatable to think of them tearing apart a working range....
