2016 MidSouth Marksmen MR/LR Matches (AEDC - Tullahoma, TN)

Brad won in F-TR with really strong shooting on day two (he only dropped one point), William Glascoe was second. I tried to make it competitve, but closing the bolt and hitting the trigger with my ring finger and shooting one into the 6 ring in the second match really didn't help and put me behind the curve from the onset. The reality was that those guys were shooting way to good to be giving up points in bunches and have any kind of chance. (it was all in all 6 points better than what I thought I did) I've yet to master the "Biggs" and put them into the 10/X ring when I do that, but I'm really trying not to practice the art.

Russell Riser is the new TN state champion in F-TR.

I think this was one of the best, most fun matches in which I've participated. Thank you to all who helped to put this one on.

It was kind of special for me because since I've moved away it will likely be the last time I'll shoot at Oak Ridge for a long time. It felt a whole lot like leaving home. The place has been my home range since I got into long range shooting. I've spent a whole lot of time on that range shooting matches once or twice a month in the spring/summer and just going out to work on loads. I'm going to miss the place a lot. That and I was shooting with a bunch of guys I've gotten to know shooting regularly with for the last 5 yrs or so.

Anyone have results that can be posted yet?

I heard through the grapevine that Brad Mitchell won F-TR shooting his .223. Way to go buddy! Congrats! Gotta love those 90 VLDs!

Thanks Greg, I did win Ftr. Open was decided on X Count and Barry Holcomb won, I just barely squeaked it out in F/tr by 1 shot. Tight match all the way through.

Another fantastic match weekend with Midsouth Marksmen and ORSA combining their talents to provide a great Tennessee Mid-Range Championship. A huge thanks to John Venters and also Mrs. Venters for her excellent job computing the scores etc., Larry Sparks, of course, and that Tim Kreier guy, I'm sure he did something, just not sure what ;) Congratulations to Thomas Colyer, the 2016 Tennessee Mid-Range Prone Champion, and great shooting by Phil Crowe and high overall prone shooter Roarke Pendleton, both Alabama residents. Also congrats to Michael Tjon for winning Service Rifle in some fishtailing conditions with a NON-SCOPED AR-15. On a final note, I enjoyed shooting with my squadded partners this weekend, a couple of fine gentlemen and top notch shooters, Russ Theurer and Doug "THE GLOVE" Fletcher.

Oh yeah, also congrats to the F-Class winners too :)

It was a honor and pleasure to be able to run this years combined MidRange Tennessee State Championship. I would like to thank ORSA and Larry Sparks for making this match a reality. Most folks will never know the amount of work that went into making this match a success. Hope everyone had a great time and congratulations to the winners and each and ever competitor who attended.

I'd also like to chime in and thank everyone who worked so hard to run this match. I run our clubs Highpower program and can appreciate the time commitment matches like this require.

Thank you, Tim, and thanks to the rest of the Oak Ridge crew who participated in running the match!

Congrats you three! Great job! Barry, you better be careful, she's coming after you!!
Tell me about it!!! This was her 5th match ever, couldn't be more proud of her. She is very patient and learns quick. Thanks to Tim and John and the Orsa crew for putting on the state match. Lot of great shooters, we had a blast!

Barry also took home the high HM score in the match. Shooting against the Oak Ridge sling shooters, and those guys don't drop many, that is an accomplishment on an F class targets. Congrats
