2016 MidSouth Marksmen MR/LR Matches (AEDC - Tullahoma, TN)

MSM Competitors

Want to thank the 35 shooters who came out Saturday and enjoyed a great day of shooting. As usually, the weather man was wrong and we had a great day of conditions for shooting. So if you stayed home on the couch because of the weather forecast, shame on you.
Congratulations to our top shooters of the day. Phillip Crowe 598-36X Prone, Randy Graham 596-33x F-Open and William Glasgow 588-21x F-T/R. Attached are the complete results for the day.
If you haven't done so, please mark your calendars for the upcoming Mid Range Regional 28/29 May. This will be 2 days of shooting with a ton of awards handed out on Sunday.Hope to see you there and bring a friend
and remember juniors are the future of our sport. MSG(R) Tim Kreier MidSouth Marksmen Match Director

I like having this thread consolidated, but maybe a regional deserves it's own thread, even if it's just a locked post with a link to this thread.
I had this very discussion with John this past Saturday. We need to do this for all MSM matches!

I don't know that anyone outside the core group of shooters knows we're having a regional in a couple weeks. No chatter at all.

The emails are probably the main driver but someone not on the mailing list scrolling through the competition forum will have no idea.

Not saying we need to change anything, just throwing it out there.

Chris - just go ahead and do it instead of waiting for Tim or John to do it. It's not a big deal. It's a good idea for a Regional.

I'm planning on coming up for the regional and I believe that a few from Mississippi plan on making the trip. This will be my first road trip for a match so I'm looking forward to the experience.

We currently have over 350 people on the Mid and Long Range distro list. The regional should be listed on the NRA Shooting Sports magazine and of course we are also posting here. Like all things we have a ton of people who have great ideas, but are short of individuals to implement them all. Some folks just don't realize or appreciate how much behind the scenes work is required to have a quality registered event. We are always looking for volunteers.

We are less than a week out from our next approved 3x1000 match on sunday the 5th of June.
For those not on our distro list, the Mid Range match on saturday the 4th has been canceled due

Attached please find the results from Sundays approved 3x1000 match at AEDC. Attendance was down
and I attribute that to the weather report. Turned out to be a good day for shooting at AEDC. Was overcast
all day, with temps below what we have been having all week. It only sprinkled for maybe 10 minutes the entire day and most people probably didn't even realize it. So those of you, who chose to follow the weatherman. Lost again! told you so. The next scheduled MSM match will be the Dean Herron Memorial match 16/17 July, which
will tentatively be a 3x600 match each day. Hope to see you there and bring out those service rifles.

This weekend (9/10 July) there will be a 3x1000 on Saturday and a Palma match (800,900 and 1000)
held on Sunday. Hope to see you there for two days of great shooting at one of tennessee's finest
long range facilities.

The latest info I currently have is the KD range at AEDC will be ready sometime around August
for mid and long range matches..................................Stay tuned MSG(R) Tim Kreier MidSouth Marksmen

I see Soko likes this but it makes me kind of sad. I liked the target carriers and wish they would have spent the time and effort building an impact berm and re-routing/eliminating the road at the 600 yard line so we didn't need road guards. Then we could run 3 relays and save $100 a day. BUT, they didn't ask for my input so carry on...

Wonder what the new target frames will be like.

EDIT. I was thinking this over last night and wondered how Dean Herron might have felt about this? I didn't know Dean as well as Clyde, Rusty, Alvin, TN or a bunch of the others who brought me up through the years but I think he would have been thrilled to see the improvements. Improvements that more than likely will keep AEDC relevant and operational for years. Thinking of it like this makes it a lot more palatable to think of them tearing apart a working range....
