USPS is getting better. Priority mail cross country is 4 days. Still 2 day mail is a waste of money, takes 4 days. No problem with letters now.

As a rule? No. Priority Mail can take between 2 and 15 days. Whether cross country or a shorter journey. At present, the USPS is not even close to meeting the 2-3 day commitment for Priority Mail in general. That's based on 10 packages I have sent this year so far, and 7 I have received. Sure, not a huge sample. But 4 days average is not what I'm getting. Probably 8 days.
As to the poster who says the do a "phenomenal" job, clearly they are not doing as well as they did 20 years ago, when in fact Priority Mail could be relied on. So has the definition of "phenomenal" changed? Or is it compared to say, the postal service in North Korea (of which I have no knowledge whatsoever).

Well now I am starting to get P.O.'d. Tracking still says "Your package will arrive later than expected, but is still on its way. It is currently in transit to the next facility."
2 days ago it said the same. I can drive to MS in less than 24 hours. If the parcel was transferred to another facility it should show up on tracking. Bet the damn thing is still in MS.
I could fork over $2.10 to the USPS for "Tracking Plus"..........but that would expire on July 14, 2021. What would that get me? Updates every minute that show my package is on it's way ..........somewhere? Does not tell me anything.

I am a retired pipefitter and have done a lot of work at USPS sites in and around Chicago I can't say it's line this at sites across the country but have never seen a lazier bunch of workers in my life. Ant privet company would have fired the lot but not our government.
Some of them are doing better. I ordered something from the Netherlands at 0914 on 3-16. Got a UPS delivery notice at 1345 on 3-18. A little over 52 hrs from the Netherlands to Illinois. USPS being a government entity they probly can't just fire the non-performers like the independent carriers. I'm not sure what the answer is but I won't use USPS if I have another option at this point.

"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) on Tuesday outlined a proposed 10-year strategic plan that would slow current first-class delivery standards and raise some prices to stem $160 billion in forecasted red ink over the next decade.
The plan would revise existing service standards for first-class mail letters from the current one to three days to one to five days. USPS said 61% of current first-class mail volume would stay at its current standard. It would shift more deliveries to trucks rather than airplanes, consolidate mail processing and cut hours at some retail locations.
USPS Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, a supporter of former President Donald Trump who was named last year to head USPS, said without changes the Postal Service would need a "government bailout" — something it does not want to seek.
USPS needs significant financial relief from Congress and the Biden administration from pre-funding obligations and other changes that could address $58 billion in anticipated losses.
USPS has reported net losses totaling $86.7 billion from 2007 through 2020. One reason for the red ink is that Congress in 2006 passed legislation requiring USPS to pre-fund more than $120 billion in retiree health care and pension liabilities. Labor unions have called this requirement an unfair burden that other businesses do not share.
Representative Carolyn Maloney, who chairs the committee that oversees USPS, has circulated draft legislation to address pre-funding obligations and other USPS financial issues."

I thought that Sleepy Joe and Nancy just sent a few hundred million their way, as part of "COVID Relief."
I saw a news clip on TV the other day stating that upcoming "changes" to the USPS would mean slower delivery and shorter hours the PO's would be open. Sounds like a good way to deal with increase in volume everyone says they have..

The "slower" delivery and reduced window time is a setup for the 2022 election. The HR1 bill that would allow Washington to control state elections, you know the one's where governors changed election laws without legislation. Some of the state's democrat governors allowed state constitutional law to be broken. HR1 is the means to fund and legalize the stealing of elections. It is happening again, Iowa elected a republican to the house, a close recount,court certified win. Nancy wants the house committee(6 dems-3repubs) to pick the winner. Disenfranchising 800,000 Iowa voters. This is how property,free speech,gun ownership rights will be lost, stolen elections.
