SUCCESS at Last - Carbon in throat removal

Did anyone answer the question RE: using Slip 2000? I am asking because it seems to work better than Bore Tech C4. Is it not as effective as Free All?

Chuck

I three different grits of paste and a bit of oil. It Always works but you may have to work at it for an extended time if you've allowed it to get too bad. Start with a course grit and 100 strokes adding more oil and compound after each 20 strokes. You will see a remarkable difference after the first 100 strokes. Do the same with a finer grit and repeat with a very fine grit.

I use my old bronze brushes to apply the Flitz. I like that even better than the nylon ones. I have done barrel after barrel now. All nice and clean.

ONLY USE BRONZE CORE BRUSHES. The bristles won't hurt your barrel, but the stupid BASE of the brush sure will!!!

Free All is good stuff bro. You can get it at O'reillys and it is the most invasive penetrating oil I have ever used.

People ruin more barrels babying their cleaning regimen than they do cleaning them. From my experience... people have no idea what it takes to get a barrel clean once it ihas been neglected with ineffective cleaning practices for some length of time.
Tried some Free All and it works great. I even like the smell, a keeper for sure

Thought I would share what I believe to be a very stubborn carbon ring....

Hello there fellas" new here! Been following this thread for a while now . And found some very good, actual live data here...
If I may, I have my own system that works very well on removing stubborn carbon. And NO! It won't just wipe off there is little elbows grease that goes with it..
As we all know there is no" better option as a scrubber than bronze brushes, we can all agree with that.
But on the fluids it's been a hit and miss..

If I may give some insight on what fluids really work*..
A little back story to who I am and what I do for a living. I have been working as an automotive technician in better terms..was was born in an automotive mechanical family. So been doing for a good minute.

And me all the Male siblings have been shooting before we could walk, Enough said.
The best chemical that helps dissolve carbon and clean is ,.note" BERRYMAN (CHEM-DIP) my dad used it from way back to clean pistons, valve train components and carburetors...CARBURETORS if any of you remember them.. dont know the whole story of how my dad tried this fluid to clean rifle barrels...beyond my understanding..
But by golly this stuff works.

This is how I use it*.
I normally shoot 2 rifles every other weekend and the normal is 100 rounds through each.
So while picking up my stuff off the bench I run a saturated patch with WD-40 to keep the carbon wet and soft leave the fluid there till I get home and place my stuff where ever it goes.
Place my rifles on the cleaning bench and use FORD motor craft brake parts cleaner on to a wet patch and pass through. This will completely dry out the WD-40 and this you can see with you eyes.
Then saturate a wet patch with BARRYMAN'S chem-dip and let sit over night, usually 9 to 10hrs.
Next day another saturated wet patch with BERRYMAN'S and let stand for 30min.
Come back use brake parts cleaner to clean and dry off. By this time you will see through your borescope how the carbon in the throat will lift like flakes. This the point where hoppe's comes in get your bronze brush soak it with hoppe's and go to town on it..

I've found that 10 strokes from throat to 6" beyond. A wet patch with hoppe's then a dry patch and inspect....depending on your barrel and how bad is your throat, will depend on how easy it cleans. I will try and attach a picture of this chemical
