Shooting Sports Proper References and Grammar

I no more got four words out of my mouth and the officer cuts me off with an almost hysterical "Dude, you got it bad!" That pretty much cured me of the desire to talk to anyone else that day.
Oh man, that's a built-in conversation starter. Should have given it right back to him about HIS accent!

Jeff

Not according to internet experts. Revolvers and pistols are totally different and 2 different classes of firearm. But who cares if you know what the person speaking is talking about.

I think grammar and terminology is important, especially when communicating about firearm related information.

That's why caliber and cartridge should be used correctly.
Seriously, we're on a reloading forum.

Also, 'yeah' means yes. 'Ya' is Canadian for yes. Lol.

I hate it when someone tells me they're shooting a 6.5. 6.5 WHAT?????
When they tell me a 6.5 Creedmoor I really want to scream.
Umm...what's wrong with "6.5 Creedmore"? Seems pretty specific to me, but then I don't shoot it.

I totally understood what he was saying but others were upset because he didn't use the terminology properly. What phrase or misuse of words sends you over the edge. With me its when someone talks about having a barrel "spun up" Its like fingernails on a calk board going through a really poor amp system with a lot of feedback. tell us what is the worse.
What does "having a barrel spun up" even mean? I don't think I've ever come across that term before.

A revolver is a type of pistol, right?

Jeff

Nope. A handgun is either a 'pistol' which uses ammo held in a detachable magazine ( NOT clip!!) or a revolver which holds its ammo in an attached cylinder. Action describes the function of either variety.

The first 'hybrid' handgun, imo, was the Glock which had the reliability of a a revolver with the ammo capacity of a pistol. (!)

Done and ignored.

The problem is that you people think just saying 6.5 means 6.5 needmore, like it's the only .264 caliber cartridge in existence.

I TOO, like many others like TO shoot TWO rifles of differing cartridges. I prefer one hole groups because they always measure .000". This is because I pay attention to MV, ES, and SD. I take careful measurements regarding COAL and CBTO. I have never tried the OCW, however. My biggest concern is that POI matches POA. I have yet to see whether a FB performs worse than a VLD at mid ranges. The FB distance in my chamber is adequate for either. Sometimes I jump and sometimes I jam depending on bump. I am currently RUNNING a RBLPRE but a RBLPBE looks enticing as long as it has the original FP and spring. I still use a MOA scope over MILs because I shoot known distances but I like the ATACR and maybe SHV4. The CM is very popular, but for now I'm shooting AI cartridges instead. Of course it's hard to argue with PRC, RSAUM, or WSM. This useless rambling is to point out that acronyms can be hard to follow at times in our gun discussions. Just a little humor, here.

Could you please say that again, only with the kind of drawl that a black woman might use.;)
