Shooting Sports Proper References and Grammar

Nope. A handgun is either a 'pistol' which uses ammo held in a detachable magazine ( NOT clip!!) or a revolver which holds its ammo in an attached cylinder. Action describes the function of either variety.
Well I'll be a suck-egg mule. Ya learn somethin' new everyday. Interesting.

So if a pistol uses ammo held in a detachable magazine, and a revolver holds it's ammo in an attached cylinder, what should a TC Contender be called. Just being silly donchano!!!!

A break open single shot handgun. So then pistol and revolver aren’t the only styles.

No you got that all wrong. I used to work partners with a guy i went to school with. He was a little out there and so were his kids. The daughter worked at Burger King when she was in high school. Some guy drove up to the drive through and asked for mayERnassie. She told him that they didn't have anything like that and it got so bad they came close to calling the police. All he wanted was his mayernaisse.

It's a pistol. Pistol definition does not reference a magazine. It's defined as a hand fired firearm having the chamber integral to the barrel (one piece). A revolver has multiple chambers -- separate from the barrel -- that come inline with the barrel when the round in that chamber is fired. Pistols and revolvers are both captured in the term "handgun". I've always avoided the term handgun out of personal preference for "pistol", but I gotta change my ways now.

Grammer, spelling and slang on this site actually don't bother me.
I hate reading reloading threads where the topic is for a particular cartridge (say 308 Win) and people make posts such as "76 grains Retumbo with a 230 OTM". Or, worse, something actually sounding correct enough for a reader to believe the post is referring to the object of the thread.

They didn't have anything like "mayERnassie'. It seems like he and the kids WEREN'T "a little out there".

I would rather read what fellow shooters have to say rather than critiquing their grammar.
True, it is often tedious trying to decipher some of our fellow poster’s ideas, but that in no way should discount a valid point.
We all have our short comings.

Many of us know some skilled craftsmen who write as if they never got past the 8th grade.
That in no way deducts from their success in their chosen endeavor.
I've also read from folks who would have you think that they tutored Shakespeare in his early years as well, but as you said, doesn't add to, or likely subtract from their success in the field or at the range. :D

That was typical in the days when retreading tires was very common. The casing was the reused part of the tire upon which a new tread was vulcanized.

This is Reno's oldest tire shop:

I remember Mike Rowe (Dirty Jobs) did a stint in tire shop retreading tires. I found that one pretty interesting.
