Sharp Shooters Supply Gunsmithing

Does anybody know how to get a hold of anyone at sharp shooters supply? The reason I ask is because my dad sent an action to them back in April and it was supposed to be tuned and then bedded in one of their stocks. The original wait time was 6 weeks. Every time we have actually been able to get a hold of someone they give us the runaround and tell us it will be 3-6 more weeks. The action and stock should've been finished 6 weeks ago according to their last estimate. I'm tired of being lied to!!! Why can't I just be told the actual truth. I have called their number posted on their website and in the late part of September they had a message that said they would not be answering phones until Oct 15. Well, that has continued on. It's either busy signal or rings with no answer now. My dad has emailed them numerous times with no response. This is getting ridiculous! I know they are busy and backlogged but that is no excuse for the customer service, or lack there of. I would think an email or returned phone call would not be difficult to do in 6 weeks. I am in no way bashing their work b/c that's why I sent it to them.
Thanks,
Barry

When they get swamped they stop communicating with anyone. They do great work. Unfortunately controlling workflow can be a problem.

I had heard they do great work, that is why I went with them. I am expecting great work when I finally get it back. I don't see how they can treat customers the way they do and expect repeat business. They told me 6 weeks ago that I was #3 on the list for work to be completed. I was told the action was already tuned and all they had to do was bed the action.
Lawrence, a very well written letter and you took the words right out of my mouth.

Welcome to the great business they run over at SSS. I have not done any business with them in two years after the last fiasco. The only thing they do fast is charge your card. Best of luck to all that deals with them.

I have never dealt with them but my brother had a similar issue as mentioned above and also several guys i shoot with also had the same issues. I have mentioned several times at the range around several guys who dealt with them in the past that i would love to own two of their stocks and the response i got was if you prepare yourself for them charging your card immediately and not sending the stocks to you for months after the quoted date then you will have no issues. I just cant bring myself to prepay for two stocks and then play cat and mouse for months and months. I will say they do tremendous work and i have seen many of their guns shoot. Good luck

Barry,

They do great work, but their customer service SUCKS!!! The only thing they can do, is take your money as son as you call. I had to go thrumy card Co. to get it wright.

A friend had them do a laminated stock for him. Same experiences as listed above. Not good.

But, on the other hand and to their credit, that same stock developed a crack ( laterally across the laminates in the pistol grip), and when notified about the problem, shown with a picture, they immediately went to work & the guy had a new replacement stock in about 2 weeks.

Why not go with kevin rayhill,he has always done good by me.Parts ordered showed up in 3 days.

Love SSS stuff but have bought both my stocks used aas i could not get through to them to order a new one. Kevin Rayhill of Stockade is top notch in his work and his customer service. I waited on a Stockade stock for weeks and when it arrived the box had been destroyed and the stock was damaged. I called Kevin, sent it back and within two weeks he had me another stock at my door although it clearly was not his fault. THATS customer service and he will get more business from me.

Kevin is a awesome guy, just likes to talk. I ordered a sotck from him and paid the extra $100 for a rush and was told it would be 6 weeks and it showed up in 5, not the same experience as the one and only time I've dealt SSS.

I had SSS build a bench rest rifle...pleased with the way it shoots from day one...just got back a LRPV which had the action T & T and the EVO trigger..was satisfied with the work and trigger. ordered bolt heads..single action followers, bolt handles and allways got my stuff, I found Lisa will respond within a couple of days to email..forget the phone, unless you want to keep hitting the redial until you get thru..the work came back more or less as promised..i do know that they don't make their own barrels or stocks..so this puts them at the mercy of others. He does good work and he's not over priced..thus he's allways busy.

To be honest I have had good and bad dealings with them, and will probably have more.
Example sent in a bolt for fluting and had it returned in 9 days-12 days total time.
Ordered an in stock barrel was supposed to be 4 weeks ended up 9 1/2 months and lots of calls emails, always told in a week or two, then told the barrel maker was having trouble with delivery. Total silence when I reminded her it was " in stock" when I ordered. Now if I need something and someone else has it that is where I go.
Customer service is surely not their strong point, but a quick attitude surely is.

They do do great work, but the last time I was there 2 guy did all of the work so I can see how they could get over loaded with work.

This question comes up every so often on this forum and others. Same thing every time. Told 6 weeks ends up 6+ months. Same complaints about customer Service.

Last build I done was a complete custom rig. It took 10 months but I was told 9 months! Also it took 7 months to get the action, but Kelbly also told me 6months. Yes it was a long wait but at least things were kept honest. One month longer is no big deal. Junk happens and can through someone behind. If a man is honest about it then I have no problem. I except honesty everytime!!!

The one month delay was also due to me telling my smith that I didn't have time to shoot at that moment and for him to go ahead and get some of the impatient ppl out of the way and make them happy. Like I said I'll except honesty everytime.

I bought a right bolt/left port Savage target action with a .223 boltface from SSS and had Fred time and true it. When I ordered it I was told it would be 6 to 8 weeks before it would be done and that's about what it took. I couldn't be happier with the way the action works--smooth as silk.

I have also had Kevin Rayhill do work on one of my Savage 12VLP rifles. He did a great job and turnaround time was amazingly fast!!! I'm a happy customer.

Finally got a hold of Lisa yesterday and was given an update. They are claiming it will be the end of next week and it should be shipped. I think I am number 2 on the list now :) Time will tell....

Only dealt with SSS a couple of times. Was fed a line of BS both times. The reason the phine is always busy is Lisa has a big mouth and want to yak all the time. I heard her life story both times I called. A friend ordered a stock and took almost 6 months. Never again. I think the "F" rating the BBB gave them was kinda high.
I've also heard they have "Special" customers that don't receive the long weights the regular folks get.

Its a good thing you didnt post this on savage shooters, they would have locked and deleted it.
