Savage Nuts Please Read

Well my Pac-Nor .243 bbl is quickly heading South. I called Pac-Nor to order another bbl exactly like the one I have. Once again they want me to send them my bbl nut. My gun will be down for weeks if I do that. How many bbl nut sizes can there be?
Where can I buy a spare nut other than Sharp Shooters Supply, they won't return their phone calls.

They want you nut for a tight fit. thats all its beneficial to you to send it them.

Yeah brownells has them, I though midway did, but I checked and it wasn't at least under their gun parts list.

If your using the heavier bullets I would suggest the 3 groove 1-8 twist or 4 groove -7.5 twist barrels. Polygonal rifles are said to be easier on your throat...might be worth looking into.

I personally like pac-nor, for the money they can't be beat!

Thanks, I shoot a 6mm, 3 groove, 8twst Pac-Nor, I love the Bbl. I has over 1300 rounds down it and is getting very tired.

I am going to order another one soon.

Does Savage have two size BBl nuts? I only saw one listed in Brownell's so I ordered it. The original gun was a 300 WinMag and I still have the BBL. Would a light caliber, say a .223 have a different nut? This is on a solid bottom long action.

Yes, there are 2 sizes of nuts for the savage. On is the standard and the new Mag is bigger. You will be able to tell as you look at your barrel, if it has a step, you have the larger one if no step, you have the standard. As far as ordering from Brownells, not sure.

Yes there are two barrel sizes. The standard size is a 1.055 x 20tpi and 1.120" x 20 tpi for WSM,RUM,and SAUM calibers.
If it has the step,its the larger one. Yor 300WM barrel will be the 1.055".
