Scope for one mile

Nobody uses one of these?

I have one .... before anyone gets excited it’s on a sako trg 22 in 308 , and barely use above 20x power , because mirage / Texas etc - it’s wicked glass you could read a newspaper at 100yrds but - mirage etc , one of these days may move it to one of the 300’s or 338’s but too lazy as my other scopes get me out to 2k reasonably well- YMMV

Even with a 40MOA base? I’ve never shot mine past 1K so I’m not familiar…….
It’s listed with 75 moa or 17.5 mils from their site so a 40 moa would add to distance but would also not allow for a 100 yard zero. It will give you the full elevation but scopes with 100+ moa and 30+ mils will make it a little easier. All the power isn’t needed really and as mentioned will probably not be able to be used due to mirage for really long shots. It’s a good scope for sure. I ran PMII 5-25s for years.

This
The old henny 4x16’s have the same issue
Excellent scope but limited usable elevation.

the scope I use for ELR runs on a 45 moa rail and can still easily zero at 100

I'm always amazed, and somewhat quizzical when people say they can't go higher than 20X because of mirage. I'm at 50X year round.

I have used it on 308win, and 300NM.
Excellent scope, but very low eye relief. In 308, i got it as my 1st scope for F Class (FTR). After about 500 rounds of initial learning curve, I tried shooting free recoil. I could not shoot free recoil with this scope though. It would come kiss my eye brow on each shot. I got a March 10-60 HM, and never looked back. The March has slightly better glass (contrast, clarity, and resolution), compared by 2 shooters side by side.

I was zeroing an AXMC 300NM for a friend in Dec'21, he had the MOA version of pm2 12-50. The rifle was with AI brake. It was the first time i got scoped. Had a headache for over a day. A small cut, but all fun in the end. My error, I was shooting free recoil, and when I adjusted to shooting with proper shoulder and cheek weld, it was ok. But, not sure if it wd be OK with big magnums in ELR game.

Not recommended for free recoil, or for hard hitting magnums.

Was around the Valdada scopes early on. Saw WAY to many go down with no customer service. Has that changed?
Do they offer a quick turnaround if something goes south? Like others have said, 1 mile isn't that tough with just about any decent scope. I shoot the Niteforce ELR match and have run everything from a gen 2 Razor, Schmidt 5x25, and now a 7x35 ATCAR.. 1st or 2nd focal, whatever works for you. My home range only goes out to 2060 yards. 90% of competitors are running 1/4 turrets to aid in minimal dialing at matches. If your just shooting casually, 1/8 works probably better.
Look through as many as you can before you purchase.

I currently have a Steiner M7, a ATACRs , a NX8, a Mark5 and a Gen 1 Valdada Recon on my dial and shoot long range rigs. I’m not sure there is a best but the two I seem to use and enjoy the most is the Valdada Recon and the M7. They are all FFP in mils. Scopes can be subjective, everybody’s eyes are different and if you have the ability to try some side by side you find one that you really like for your vision. Competitions are a good place to do that and most shooters are happy to help.
