Rem action accuracy

how many of you double check the tolerances and lug contact of your custom actions, or, do you just take their word for it?

I check them, why?
Salvage guy, would you quit dancing around the blueprint question! How do you do it on say, your salvage receiver or Remington if you prefer?

It is process of eliminating any unnecessary movement . Redoing raceways tolerance to a minimum and still function. Bore tolerance to a minimum square lugs to the bore along with threads tennon and lug face. Bolt time and square along with firing pin hole. Install and time the trigger . Take away any motions that isn't necessarily for operation . Many of custom actions need to be reworked for trigger operation. Larry

Yup,
You have read the forums, now tell me how it is done step by step.

I actually enjoy tuning a remington action up to its capabilities. Truing, bushing the bolt, timing, ignition timing, fitting a new shroud and bushing the firing pin as well as ensuring proper guidance with no drag. Eyes closed they will run as smooth as any custom, and shoot as well. Definitely not cost effective, but do-able if if you have to do it.

Salvageguy, bookmark this.

Oh I wouldn't dare wait on you. I'm old, but would be very old before you searched and found the answer.
No need to search . That is why I wouldn't buy a Remington . So far I think the python is good I like the large tennon . The stock I have it in bites.
The 40x the stock is not to my liking.
The 40 x may find a new owner
Have 2 extra barrels un fired
30 BR and 22-250 it is a dasher . Larry

True-250
Time ignition and extraction-250
ream/install bolt bushings-100
bush bolt and turn pin-100
fit new shroud-50
ground/pinned lug installed-100
align and enlarge scope mount holes to 8-40-75
Install Sako or mini-16 if needed to eject br cases-125
Make and install single shot adapter-75
Install side bolt release-100.

$1225 in parts and labor plus the cost of the doner action.

And what is your point? If you don't like Remington that is KOOL! Why a Python? I thought you were a salvage guy.

You just bought a brand new Borden and saved the Remington for a truck gun..

wow I must be real lucky to know a guy..he is quite good..checks the action to see how far it's out.
cut lugs action and blot, bolt face, action face and recut threads square. he only charged me $175.00 bucks
Pin .250 recoil lug cant remember but not much..He does charge quite a bit to thread chamber and crown a barrel though...ouch...but he is good..just a 6XC sporter rifle..shoots very well.. I shot a few 3 shot'ers in the mid .200's at 100 yards and several in the mid .300's at 200 yards ..I know a custom action in this application could not shoot any better.
Jewell trigger/TUBBS Dual spring firing pin..I JB welded the NF 20MOA bases on.

I would never put $1,225 in a rem action...actuall the reason we still use them is because we can get them trued cheep.Makes a nice accurate Hunting or varmint rifle.IMG_0669.jpg

Ya, and theres no need to put 1200 in a rem. That was just and extreme example on how much you could spend.

A complete used rem br gun can be had for that $1225, I would definitely go custom before I spent that kind of money plus cost of a donor action on a rem.

Both of my savages shoot better 8 T for 600
7.5 T for 1000 .
Both have tied the club record and the 8 has the club record at 300 and 600 . Larry

I asked you, very politely, for the site where the results of your club matches are posted. I guess that's just like Butch asking for step by step details. You seem to be, "all flash and no cash" when it comes to proving your point. Your use of a "screen name" was a "dead give away".
