Quite unheard of..

Night before pheasant opener years ago, we were having a beer in my buddy's farm work shop. His shorthair went out through the dog door, returned about 5 minutes later. Eyes weeping, salivating. My buddy smelled the skunk almost started puking, I laughed. I have been around dozens of skunks, live trapping, conibear and leg holds. Washed his dog for him, and had to load and unload all the dogs that weekend. Interesting that dogs that have been sprayed have no problems scenting birds or fur. And some dogs never learn to avoid skunks. You can use hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting if a puppy eats rat poison, bil 12 week old shorthair ate some, worked perfectly.

I used to deliver newspapers in the 70's and every single morning I would walk to a side door of a certain house with bushes in front. Every single morning I would hesitate and the skunk would walk by me and just give me a glance and go upon his way. I was like 10 feet away.Never got sprayed once. Talk about lucky. Sometimes Dogs seem to get along with wild animals and the skunk probably was as curious as the Dog.What a story.
