These are beautiful guns. I would have a small rear stock made and not destroy the original. If it's a little ugly for a few years I'm good so I can put it back to original when their a little bigger. Then you can gift them a real treasure when they are older.How about something special; Marlin Model 39, I added a period correct tang sight, lop works for them and makes a great keepsake...just no high velocity ammo

Have you considered putting her in a Smallbore Junior Club? Most of them have equipment and good guidance to get kids going in the sport and, at least for now, it is an NCAA sport so there is a future in the sport for kids. If I recall, you seem to have some connection to WVU. If you are near Morgantown, there is an excellent one there.
