I always thought that one day I would own a flintlock rifle just for academic reasons. It was never a priority for me. Maybe now is the time!
Some of us have not been doing this long enough to experience a shortage. Fortunately for me, a couple of months ago when things started to get tight I was running out of 205ms and could not find them. When I did, I bought enough. Br4s were 60-65 1000 and 205m 45 1000. I bought 205s also for 40 1000. Call it hoarding or whatever. I call it planning to shoot in the future. My LGS says they have not gotten small rifle primers in almost a year and none of his suppliers can get them with no relief in sight.By now every one should know to have at least a year supply on hand.
Its an election year. This is not the the first or second time. You couldnt give
an AR away in febuary, 9 mm was 160 per thousand. Everything but Retumbo
was readily available. If you didn't buy the primers you needed at 35 - 40 a thousand
you can wait 8 months or pay the price the prepared are willing to sell at.
I guess they weren’t your friends after all.Done lost a couple of so called friends because I won't sell them my primers. All they will do is try and make a killing at a gun show. Not seeing primers but a lot of powder.
I've watched this on gunbroker for awhile now. The thing that got me was last week I saw 8lb jug of H1000 for $505 and the auction wasn't over yet.I started shooting skeet right before this crap happened... Until last month I didn't effect me.... Now we can't even get shotgun primers.... Who actually reloads shotgun unless you want great quality shells , you definitely aren't doing it to save money... You can buy those shells as cheap or cheaper than loading them , not to mention the time...
I took the time to look online a few days ago... Primers being scalped for $200 a thousand.... 9mm bulk 1000 round packs at $850 and .22lr at $150 a brick... There's no shortage but there's a bunch of asshats buying up everything and putting it on GunBroker at those prices...
I wonder how the sellers of hazmat materail on Gunbroker will deliver their sales to the buyers since shipping of hazmat is illegal unless you have the license to do so.I've watched this on gunbroker for awhile now. Are you sure they do a 8Lb jug of 8208? I assume you mean Hogdon powders. They dont offer one in OZ only in 1kg bottles other powders come in 1Lb and 8lB or 500gm and 4kg,My primer supply isn't to bad Yet. But trying to find an eight lb. jug of 8208 is impossible.

Man , I have to agree 100% with this... I absolutely don't mind giving ammo away during these bad times , I just put a box in my shooting bag for a friend for tomorrow but I'll be damned if I am going to put up with that... BTW , a lady showed me a picture of ammo at a store in Georgetown tx... 9mm-.380 at over $70.00 a box and CCI standered velocity at $39.99 a box... I paid $13.95 a box for 9mm at academy and thought twice about buying it... I have been shooting some factory ammo and saving my reloading stuff for awhile now...I guess they weren’t your friends after all.

I remember When Obama was elected. This same thing happened and yes, I remember some of our regulars ran out of components and didnt shoot for a while. Hopefully you have a group of buddies that you all can trade around in.
How about using the UK system of two competitors to a firing point shooting 10/15 rounds each; less rounds per match and more skill required to read the wind and saving on powder and primers until the shortage is over?In F-Class we’re shooting too many rounds anyway. I took nearly 500 rounds to the nationals. Used every one of them plus had to borrow a gun and ammo to get through the last day because we needed all mine for the team matches.
I don’t think it really takes that many shots to decide who’s the best on any given weekend. Love the game but it’s got to be the most expensive to play.
