Vista Outdoor and the Primer Market

Too complex a question to answer here. Suffice it to say fundamentally a stocks value is based on future earnings discounted at some interest rate. In addition, there are other metrics such as those discussed at the link below:

The trend-oriented response is that for weeks now there's been a rotation out of growth stocks into value stocks. Inflation concerns are rattling investors as the Treasury yield curve steepens, tending to dampen high-flying growth stocks which soared last year. Value stocks are considered something of a safe haven just now.

I went in and out of Kai Tak 4 times back in '68 (R&R); and, seems each time one of the wing tips would be out ahead of the nose coming in for the landing!?
Its a good thing they got rid of that one. Not near as scary as st baarts or gibraltar. At kai tak your wheels would hit the shoulder of a road right after the belly rubbed a 2 story building.

I flew into Kai Tak International in the 80's and early 90's. The extremely low level approach plus the high banked right hand turn always scared the bejesus out of me. No autopilot on those landings. If you were seated on the right side of the plane you could look into the buildings and see people.

I haven't been to Hong Kong or St. Bart's (way out of our league & typical clientele), but my wife & I have flown to Saba on a scuba vacation. It has the shortest runway of any commercial airport. We got to & from on WinAir Twin Otter aircraft from & to St. Maarten. The verbal recorded stall warning was going nonstop during approach & landing. There's just enough runway that the plane doesn't dip during takeoff after leaving the runway, which I understand was part of the Saba experience back in earlier times. The Dutch police / equivalent of Coast Guard drop by in a helicopter every so often.

The alternative at that time anyway was a passenger ferry from St. Maarten that offers free beer as part of the ride but is nicknamed "The Vomit Comet" for those without sea legs, and takes longer of course.

Heard a guy on scuba trip asking the pilot why he went around after the first approach to Saba: "Had to make a low pass to scare the goats off the runway."

For you shotgun guys we have had very good luck with cheddite primers and have replaced our loads for Winchester with them.... I for one and know a few more who will probably never go back to Winchester.... So far out of tens of thousands zero problems and we're actually liking them better... We simply backed off a half a grain to begin but even going back up to the normal Winchester primer load we have seen no pressure signs... As per the norm , please be careful and do your research.... Shotgun reloading can be tricky and dangerous as it is a low pressure gun... These loads are skeet loads not slug or buckshot....

A couple of weeks ago I contacted Federal tech support to inquire about how much jump to rifling they recommend for their Terminal Ascent projectiles. In the course of that conversation, the tech got to talking and I just sat and listened with a few prompts to keep him going.

Turns out, he told me that nearly all of Federal's excess primer production was being shipped to Remington to support Remington's ammo production. Apparently, Remington has really been struggling to get their primer production back up and running. No details on why....but reading other places online suggests that Vista Outdoors has been sending subject matter experts from their companies to Remington since last fall.

Hopefully Remington can get their primer production back into full swing and Federal can start selling more primers for retail again soon....

.

Could you supply their tickers?
Weyerhaeuser, Georgia Pacific, West Fraser are usually top 3, or close. Georgia Pacific is part of Koch industries.
West Fraser is WFG and Weyerhaeuser is WY. Neither is anywhere near a 5 times increase in revenue according to Morningstar. I realize that info is still coming in but I don't see how they could possible achieve that.

I have degrees in Mechanical Engineering , Golf Turf Management , and Golf Business Management . As a retired Master Tool & Die guy , (Aerospace ) I always thought I was pretty smart , but when it comes to investments , my normal response is : "What do you think , Dear" ? Since my wife is a licensed Principal with a major investment firm . The woman has more licenses than I have letters in my full name . And she takes care of our finances . If I wanted financial news , and "Daily" ticker numbers , I'd go to the WSJ or FoxBusiness News . Nine pages of stock reporting ?....... Seriously ? Silly Me . I thought this topic was in regards to a company buying part of Remington , and the direct relationship to primer supply manufacturing . Not their stock dividend daily report ...This topic went off the rails about six pages back . J.M.O.

FOX Business News is the perfect place for a retired tool and die guy to get his investment news!

Let me know the tickers of the investments she’s made in the past 5.5 months that have more than doubled.

Compared to the progression of some of the idiotic threads that have been started lately this one is pretty tame! At least someone who followed my advice would have made some real money.

BTW, 88,899 and counting.

Cheddite primers have had quite a bit of problems with pierced primers in the past. Its been bad enough to scorch firing pins to the point of chipped pins. Any money saved is more than eaten up replacing them. I can vouch for the cost of k-80 firing pins over money saved using them. A lot of the cheap euro trash shells use them so be aware, if you see problems stop using them . It seems to affect the bottom barrels on over unders or unsingle barrels. I was told the angle of the firing pin causes some of it. As far as pressure signs what would you look for? Nothing that relates to the same in metallic loading. Use a manual and follow the data and you won't have problems. I started loading 20 gauge shells when I was 12 and used an old lee kit given to me buy a neighbor. A dipper for powder, and used a hammer to removed and reset the primer and to crimp.pretty crude compared to what I have now but at twelve years old I had more time than money! Lol.
