Primer prices - having a laugh?

What I don’t get is that br4 primers are around 14-16 cents apiece and I can buy 22lr for 6-7 cents apiece. It takes a lot more to make a 22lr than a primer. Just doesn’t make sense

Even if they are under a 100 bucks a 1000 you still get hit with anywhere from 25 to 45 bucks HaZmat charge for shipping. I been getting at my local gun show.

It will be interesting to see what they end up costing down here in the Antipode's. Even doubling the USD price to equate to an NZD won't touch it. I would anticipate if you were permitted (by supply) it will be around the $1500 NZD range

So of late I'be been bombarded by Bruno Shooters Supplies, often several times a day which just makes me want to unsubscribe from their emails, over primer and powder stock. I decided to check what I paid the last time I bought primers.
CCI BR4 in April 2018 I bought a bunch at an equivalent of $55/1000. Bruno is now touting stock at $140 per 1000 (if bought in lots of 5k). Yes prices should have gone up but not 250% !!! Clearly there's a lot of gouging still going on this market. Let them sit on the shelves for a bit longer yet. Luckily I have plenty for now.

I almost wish I hadn't looked, but after reading some of these posts, I did.

I have 1 box of Federal 210M LRP that still has the receipt in the box for $22.00, for 1000 Large Rifle match primers! (Receipt was dated 07/22/94)

I also have a box of CCI 450 SRP from around the same time with a sticker on it for $11.99 - for 1000 Magnum Small Rifle Primers!

Obviously, I don't use a ton of LR or SR Magnum primers.... but I surely wish I had bought more than I did!
