OK, can I rant here!! Sellers Beware! LOL

First off this is not directed at anyone in particular, mostly just venting. I saw a rifle for sale and it happened to be right up my alley, as the same action I am now shooting in a stock I really wanted to use. The cost of the for the package is not something I have in my wallet over 2K, so I had to secure the funds, talk to the wife and make sure I could complete the deal. Once all this was done, I sent a PM and replied on the members for sale ad. 24 hours went by, no one else had replied on the ad but I did not get a response either. I located the members e-mail and sent him an Email. He finally responded saying he had been busy but that the rifle has sold.

As a common courtesy, when selling large ticket items on a board, 1st off the seller should keep his listing up to date, secondly the board is where communication should take place so the buying public knows the status of the sale item. If I would have known others were interested or had a pending sale, I could have avoided the long conversation convincing the wife, I had to have this setup I would not feel like someone stole Christmas and I would not be typing this rant!!

I agree also. It has happened to me too, but not on a large item. I think it is very unprofessional for a seller to act this way.

I agree Diego. Maybe you can take some of that extra cash you have laying around and make a donation to the forum. ;)

So I guess all the for sale posts now need to say first I take it pm gets it. Unless I'm waiting for somebody to get permission from the wife to make purchase!!! This is priceless.

^i believe the OP is merely suggesting that FS topics are updated in a more timely manner. As an example; when it sells, the seller logs in and updates in a "reasonable" amount of time.

yep there are some of us that know there will be hell to pay if 2k is spent without a discussion! However, 1st pm with an "I'll take it" is the industry standard.

Civil 82 I understand the original intent of the op's post. What do you think the time frame should be?

If your marriage is still good after 53yrs., you can buy what you want and no questions. She has her own funds and I don't question her purchases.

There will always be possibilities of an exigent circumstance not allowing immediate update, but if an item sells through the forum, specifically through a post or PM, I think the time frame for update should be "immediately". Unfortunately, there's no way to enforce a time frame.

Agree. Goes for other stuff as well. People should go back and clean up old, sold items out items they decided not to sell. Also old single posts with no responses. Would clean up the forum

I want to say I disagree, but I will not, but I will say this, you never know what turn of events may come up in someones life. If so I'm sure there would be an explanation.

You need to look at the positive side of this transaction not working out the way you wanted....The spouse has said OK to a large $ purchase of a new rifle...whats not to like!!!!

Diego Ted,
Are you a site contributor? If so, carry on. If not, i find you bitching about anything to do with the classifieds to be in poor taste.

easy there Dos xx . I find your reply in poor taste :-* If all the poeple reg on here were not here No one would pay for Advetising on this site. Ted is just venting :)

Mattt, so that's how you help the site, by being on here regularly?

Next time there is a nascar event go to the ticket booth and demand a free ticket, when they ask why, give them the same logic you use on here.

It is unfortunate that it happened.

This may not be the only place the seller had it listed.

Some of us still have to work for a living, and we do not hover over the keyboard at home.

And some of us have employers that require us to go elsewhere (yep, even international travel) on very short notice.

Bottom line, don't be surprised when response is not instantaneous because there are other things going on in the world.

I see you have sold something on here and bought something on here. I don't see contributor status by your name either. I know that it takes a while after you contribute for it to show up by your name, so you may have contributed.

If you have, I respect your opinion. If the OP has, I respect his.

What I stated is my opinion. It is worth what you, and the OP, paid for it.
